I don't know exactly when Exeter bought the property, but they definitely did not force out Sims Carpet and prevent anyone from tenanting or purchasing the place. And I'm pretty sure that they bought it after the other potential owners floated their unsuccessful proposals.

Its from the Silverstein's, who did the first Majestic, own Bar Majestic, and did Schroeder Lofts and the rental project next to it. So far everything I've seen from Exeter has been a top-shelf, quality project... this especially has a shot at transforming Grove St. to a more viable, appealing retail, shopping and "strolling" stretch to link to Liberty Harbor and act as an attractive "center" of downtown. But, of course, it might have a "yuppie" store in it, so this board has to bash it.

This is where retail and housing is meant to be. It will help connect the strip to the new Liberty Harbor development.

Parks are nice but Van Vorst is just a block away. Build it as long as it keeps within the character of the neighborhood.
