UPDATE: Mailing of Tax Bills The tax bills have been created. Bills have been mailed at this time to Escrow Servicers and Tax Payers that participate in the ACH payment program. All other bills with be sent out by our mailing service and are guaranteed to be in the mail by September 8, 2017 at the latest. The grace period for payment of the 2017 third installment will end on October 3, 2017. Any payment received after October 3, 2017 will be charged interest from August 1, 2017 to the date that the payment is received in the Tax Collector?s office. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we dealt with the unusually long delay this year in receiving our 2017 tax rate

From the top of the Jersey City Gov home page (http://www.cityofjerseycity.com/):
"When the bills are mailed there will be a notice included that will let you know when the extended grace period ends. It will be at least 25 days from the date that the bills are mailed." Incidentally, if you were signed up for Swift 911, located toward the bottom of the home page, you would have received an email message and a robo call message back on August 7th, indicating the delay. You can also inquire, for **numeric** past & present billing history here: http://taxes.cityofjerseycity.com/ Last, if you or your mortgage company has not received a 2017-18 bill by now, I would contact the tax office. Per NJ law, you are responsible for paying your taxes whether you actually receive a bill or not.

Nomorobo blocked a call from 201-547-4900. The city has to register any numbers used for robo calls especially for emergencies such as hurricanes.
I did get an email from Jersey City OEM about it.

Subject: City of Jersey City - Delayed Tax Bills
The 2017 final tax bill has not yet been mailed.
Due to changes made by the State of New Jersey to the awarding of State Aid to the school districts statewide, the City of Jersey City Board of Education has had to revise its budget. The revised budget was adopted by the Board of Education on July 27th, and forwarded to the State of New Jersey for approval. Once the State of New Jersey approves the revised budget the County Tax Administrator will be able to certify the tax rate that will be used to create the tax bills.
When the bills are mailed there will be a notice included that will let you know when the extended grace period ends.
It will be at least 25 days from the date that the bills are mailed.
----------------------------
It was in the Jersey Journal:

Recently, State Senator Brian Stack sent a letter to his constituents asking for input on legislation that might become law. So, I have two suggestions I hope the senator will consider.
First, I want legislation on the property tax bill I receive. There is a box on the tax bill that says, "State aid used to offset local property taxes." That box includes a figure showing my taxes would be higher if the state did not give money to the various agencies that receive my tax dollars. Tax bills will be late in Jersey City, Hoboken
Updated on July 28, 2017 at 4:47 PM Posted on July 28, 2017 at 4:38 PM By Terrence T. McDonald The Jersey Journal JERSEY CITY -- Third-quarter tax bills in Jersey City and Hoboken will be mailed late thanks to last-minute changes to school funding. Neither city expects homeowners to pay what they owe until they get their tax bills, so don't worry about a late fee quite yet. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... n.html#incart_river_index

The community I own in came out of its final year of PILOT (Abatement) in 2016. They sent us a bill for 2017 first half abatement charges, which I thought strange, as I thought the abatement should have ended. But I still sent in the check as billed. A few weeks later, the check came back with a hand scribbled note saying the abatement was over. So I'm sure I owe the unabated taxes, for the 1st and 2nd quarters, yet they still haven't shown up on the website.
I'm guessing it will all show up after the reval. I hope people are banking the taxes that they would have owed, rather than spending the money.
