You made this joke three times already. We get it.

It's not a joke.

Why add to the problem though. And the ones that usually thumb their nose at the rules of the road are the day labors. Prove me wrong if you feel this was a derogatory or incorrect comment, but it is a pattern that I see frequently.

Is day labor your unsuccessful attempt at politically correct for illegals? If you are defensive in your post before anyone says anything you should know better.

I have come within inches of running over bike riders a few times in the past couple years. All because they ran a light, a stop sign, or did something else stupid. The last one ran a red light, riding at a high rate of speed, while going the wrong way down a one way street.

My favorite are the asswipes that ride on sidewalks and then decide to cross streets by darting from one sidewalk to the other seemingly unaware that they are nearly invisible to drivers since they are usually blocked by parked cars.

A balanced article debating if bike helmets actually reduce bike accident related deaths / serious injuries. Some of the comments are interesting as well.

I noticed this! It's scary to see...the kids, little kids whipping around Newark Avenue on bikes or scooters just as I'm heading to work and the parents are sometimes a good 15-20 feet behind. Luckily the crossguards are on top of their game...all it takes is for one idiot texting and driving on their way to work or for a kid to lose control.
Please wear your helmets!!

Only hipsters do this? I see your point but your message will lose effectiveness if you talk down to people.

Then we wonder why auto and health insurance rates are so high here in Jersey City. State law mandates anyone under age 18 must wear a helmet. Absent minded parents I suppose. Procreation isn't what it used to be.

So excited to see an uptick in the number of people biking throughout Jersey City, but astounded to see the number of folks who don't wear helmets (or allow their kids not to as well).

As someone who has seen the physical devastation of a loved one in a bike accident sans helmet, please take my word for it - just wear it. It could be a critical component in saving your life or your future neurological function!

Thank you for listening.
