Is it racist to say that the 14% of Americans who are black commit more than half the murders in the US, with 90% of the victims being black?

Because statistics aren't racist.

Oh, and a known drug house in Greenville where a young black man was killed last year was shot up in broad daylight today. The news of the march this weekend didn't seem to reach everyone.
While black people make up 14 percent or so of the population it isn't the whole 14 percent that is committing the murders which is how it reads the way you wrote it. It's hard to get a clear picture from the stats since they only show those ending in arrest which is only about 65 percent. Their are other factors that leave out even more from the FBI stats. So we are not getting a clear picture. Especially when you factor in the fact conviction rates for murder aren't that high to begin with.

If you pay attention even just locally when it comes to inner city murders it is the same names connected to them many times. It is my belief that many minorities in the inner cities have a handful of people committing multiple murders driving up percentages because of low clearance rates and in some areas (NJ for example) short sentences when someone is convicted (8 to 14 year sentences). In general a murder with a black victim is less likely to be solved then a white victim. Think Shiquan Bellamy who committed 5 murders in JC before finally getting caught. If he never followed a pattern he could have slipped under the radar and would have continued to kill increasing murder rates further. Places like Newark and Camden this is even more a problem where the same guys are suspects in murders but police can't come up with enough evidence. This isn't the case in the suburbs with most murders ending in an arrest and conviction.

So pretty much what I am getting at is their are too many flaws in the statistics. It would be interesting instead of simplifying the stats if they put out a report that connected the statistics to show how often a suspect or convicted killer was connected to multiple murders. If they were more likely to kill again if caught etc. It is easy to argue that if a white killer is more likely to be arrested and convicted he is less likely to kill again but it would be easier to argue if all this data was all on one page of the same report to make it clear how big a factor this is. The same can be said with violent crime in general so it can be less of a case of black people statistically more likely to be violent but a black criminal is more likely to commit more violent crimes before being incarcerated. Ironically it is the opposite with drugs white people statistically use drugs at the same rate but black people statistically have higher arrest and conviction rates for possesion.

As for the Linden Ave murder last year just so you know the young man murdered wasn't black by the way even though you say that he was.

Maybe it's time to leave the country, because it's so screwed up ... an increase of 221% of US citizens are actually leaving (permanently) the US.

How is FATCA linked? The people renouncing citizenship are mostly retired overseas, and don't want to pay Uncle Sam taxes for the rest of their lives (as well as taxes in their country of residence). People are simply walking away from messed up US tax regulations.

Our politicians and society as a whole, is to blame for this social unrest and poor quality of life we have - The golden era of the 50's is long gone to a higher percentage of society that base their goals on greed, corruption, zero empathy and coupled with the deterioration of family and faith.

Because all of these murders were civilians murdering other civilians, and presumably all the suspects and victims were the same color (though I don't know that for sure). So because no police officers murdered the civilians, there's nothing racist about it to them, so no need to do any rallies. Pretty straightforward don't you think? Of course, the victims in these cases are no less dead than people like Michael Brown.

Oh, and Al Sharpton REALLY needs to pay his back taxes. There should be a march around his offices for that.

As long as his buddy Obama keeps looking out for him, he'll never have to pay back those taxes.

In wake of Jersey City homicides, residents march to 'Stop the Violence!'

By Jonathan Lin | The Jersey Journal
December 12, 2015 at 6:08 PM

JERSEY CITY -- In the wake of a spate of homicides in Jersey City, a group of about 50 residents marched this morning from "The Hub" shopping center on MLK Drive to City Hall chanting "Stop the Violence!"

Donisha Carswell, 41, of Dwight Street, whose 23-year-old son, Davonte D. Carswell, was fatally shot in an Ocean Avenue deli a month ago, joined the march along with other family members.

"This is our community. It's time to take it back," she said.

Five fatal shootings in Jersey City happened in the one-and-half-week span between Nov. 12 and Nov. 23.
