There is a new Thai place on Central Ave across from Rumba's Cafe -- They have really CHEAP & HUGE lunch specials and they do vegetarian. Nothing too great -- but huge & cheap lunches-- kind of like Rumba's in that respect.

Gave this place a try tonight. I was too lazy to cook so I did take out.. two dishes:

Pork belly with spicy noodles
Shrimp with rice.

What surprised me is the kitchen consists of a couple of hot plates and a small oven (or microwave). It sort of reminded me of the street food vendors around my hotel in Bangkok years back. The street food can be excellent (though as a foreigner, you run a risk of getting some form of food poisoning).

I am sorry to report that I found the food everything Thai food is NOT supposed to be: Bland, almost flavorless, mushy, and king of greasy. The spicy noodles had a weird chemical aftertaste.

I was hoping for a good Thai takeout place nearby. For the moment, this place ain't it.

No, the name is Pr&ince on the menus.

Yes, which represents "Prince & I"

Thanks for the tip, will check this place out.

Regarding the name. It looks like they went for a clever type treatment as their logo: Pr&ince

See how that works? "& I" is embedded in the middle of "Prince."

Maybe not the best business decision, if a lot of people are confused by it. If the food is good, hopefully they'll have a chance to better resolve stuff like that.

I happened into this little new Thai restaurant on Baldwin (I think 311 just north of Newark Ave) Saturday night. It is very small with 2 tables and does take out (no delivery yet). I am no Thai expert but the pad thai with pork belly I had was excellent. It looks like a one man show with the owner doing everything. I can't quite describe the decor but although definitely not an expensive fitout is somewhat interesting and inviting. My wife and sister in law tried it yesterday and liked as well.
