Hey, it's the same NJ State Supreme Court that extorts over a half billion dollars a year to give to JC schools-do you want to complain about that too?

And when it's a special interest group 'collectively bargaining' with a partner in crime it's not really an above board deal . . .

Whether it needed to happen or not the idea that a politician can bargain for a contract say "If you give us this we'll give you that" then completely bail on their side of the deal leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If you have no intention of every paying for your side of the deal then don't make the freaking deal. It is bad faith bargaining and it hurts real life people who make plans based on what their employment contract says.

Great win for Christie, huge win for taxpayers, huge defeat for unions and their shills.

The pension system is doomed and unsustainable. The gravy train's coming to an end soon.

Basically this means you can break a contract if you are a politician.

With or without the contribution, the pension system in NJ (and a lot of other states) is doomed. The last chance to reform it was back in 2005 - 2006 when Sweeney proposed moving new hires into a 401k type plan. As of 2010, NJ pensions overall were about 38% funded (or about $145 billion in the hole). They were scheduled to run out of money (assuming an 8% ROI on the pension fund investments) around 2019.

The unions took Sweeney to the woodshed and he backed off his proposal.

So we still have the same model running, albeit with the workers actually putting more money in from their own paychecks. This moved the doom date.. but I don't know how much past 2019 it got moved.
