Yeah -- I think that's definitely an issue. The doormen aren't as hard nosed about visitors as perhaps they should be. This may also do with the fact that there are two towers and one doormen, so they can't keep an eye on everyone coming and going. Also, although you do need a key fob to get into the building from the back entrance, you can easily just follow someone else in.

I was able to visit a few friends in some of these towers, it was easy to just take the elevator with no questions asked. They are basically like an apartment building / hotel.

Isn't this the place where some residents were complaining about airbnb?

Aren't the Liberty Towers locked for those without a key fob?

Burglary, theft...not robbery, thank heavens.

Thank you for the additional information and details! It is very surprising to see such audacity and lack of trepidation. Either the person had cased the building and knew the security details, or he was intimately familiar from being a regular visitor, or even a resident. You have to be very ballsy to sneak in, check multiple doors until one is an easy target and then have the cold nerves to methodically work your way through the various parking lot levels to find a car that may or may not be there, and to do so without getting caught or noticed.

It took me (an electronics idiot) 10 minutes to install this wifi security camera - and I have access to footage 24/7 via my Iphone. It was the easiest thing to do. I purchased this on Amazon for about $150 after we had breakins a few months ago. So far, so good. The resolution is awesome for the price.

Spoke with the doorman and he said that he didn't see anything suspicious. We're checking with the leasing office on camera footage but we're guessing the burglar had knowledge of the building and knew how to evade surveillance. Plus it was a cold night so he was probably bundled up.

On the car, we think he took the keys from my work bag and went to each level of the garage to find the car by using the key fob. Interestingly enough, he left the car keys splayed out on the drivers seat because maybe he was afraid of tracking.

It's just crazy given that we thought a high-rise would be a very safe place to live, but this guy apparently had guts and knowledge to escape detection.

This sounds SO WEIRD. A thief randomly targeted your apartment AND your car? A car that, by your own admission, was located in a separate garage. Taken together, it would seem you were the target of this theft and break-in. Are you aware of any enemies or person(s) that may have a beef with you??

sorry to hear that. can you please elaborate? this being a luxury high-rise, did the burglar get past front desk unobserved? hopefully there is video surveillance.

also, how did the burglar know which was your car? or did a bunch of cars get burglarized?

on 9th street where i live once in a while there's someone trying all the doors of the cars parked in the street. my son left his car unlocked sometime last month and his GPS was stolen. he reported it to the police

Hi -- just an FYI to the community that my apartment was broken into this week at Liberty Towers between 3 and 5 am. If you live here, PLEASE be sure to deadbolt and latch your front door. Luckily the thief only got my wallet and bag, but he also went inside my car which was parked in a separate garage. Pretty scary if you ask me.
