A&P bankruptcy

Anyone know if the Jersey City A&P is in any danger of closing given the A&P bankruptcy filing over the weekend? Or does it get turned into a Stop and Shop?

This was ridiculous. We live in Liberty Towers facing the bay and my wife had just put our 3 month old to sleep. She ran out to check on him and sat with him while they went off. I groggily got out of bed and muttered some expletives. They went on for 10 minutes but it felt like an eternity.

We're already annoyed by the bass thumping from the Governors Island Beach Club concerts on Sunday nights in the summer. I thought last night was going to be quiet given no concert scheduled. I guess I was wrong.

Thank you for posting this, I was not aware. He was my Primary Care Physician for the last 2 years and an all around decent guy (and good doctor). I hope his family is doing okay.

Looks like they're finally (finally) about to start putting some grass down in the park!

Status of 110 1st St and 70 Columbus

Hi -- does anyone know what the status is on 110 1st St ("The One") and 70 Columbus? Are they opening the leasing offices soon in either of those buildings? I know for The One, there was that whole episode with them tearing up the park and JC delaying their opening until they repair it, but wondering if anyone has the latest. Thanks!

Yeah -- I think that's definitely an issue. The doormen aren't as hard nosed about visitors as perhaps they should be. This may also do with the fact that there are two towers and one doormen, so they can't keep an eye on everyone coming and going. Also, although you do need a key fob to get into the building from the back entrance, you can easily just follow someone else in.

I don't think was targeted -- what we heard is that there have been a number of similar break-ins in Liberty Towers in the past year or so, and only those who don't lock their deadbolts. Guessing he used a credit card or something to open the bottom lock. This is why I recommend everyone keep their doors locked, latched, and dead bolted!

Spoke with the doorman and he said that he didn't see anything suspicious. We're checking with the leasing office on camera footage but we're guessing the burglar had knowledge of the building and knew how to evade surveillance. Plus it was a cold night so he was probably bundled up.

On the car, we think he took the keys from my work bag and went to each level of the garage to find the car by using the key fob. Interestingly enough, he left the car keys splayed out on the drivers seat because maybe he was afraid of tracking.

It's just crazy given that we thought a high-rise would be a very safe place to live, but this guy apparently had guts and knowledge to escape detection.

Robbery at Liberty Towers

Hi -- just an FYI to the community that my apartment was broken into this week at Liberty Towers between 3 and 5 am. If you live here, PLEASE be sure to deadbolt and latch your front door. Luckily the thief only got my wallet and bag, but he also went inside my car which was parked in a separate garage. Pretty scary if you ask me.

Agree with you totally. There were two escalators running. Why were they both going down? Can't one be changed to go up? Also, there's always one broken escalator. And the doors don't close properly on the other one. It's like a third world station.

Correction: even third world stations are better.
