Has anyone ever used Amerident in Journal Square? We just made an appointment there for our son's first appointment... it had been recommended by our Doctor... thanks!

Dr. Tina Naik is excellent with kids. She treated my son and myself. She's over on Kennedy by St Peters.

Our kids have been going to Dr. Lustiger's office for the past few years. Can't say enough good things about him and the other dentists there. And as a bonus, Dr. Lustiger is an avid Eagles fan.

My wife took my 3-year old son to Roar Dental and was quite pleased. She's very picky and my son is a tough toddler to work with.

My kids go to Dr. Melanie Medrano on the corner of York and Jersey. Nothing fancy but she is very nice and can't beat less than a 5 minute walk to her office.

Looking for recommendations for pediatric dentists for my young kids - would prefer downtown jersey city (1st choice), or hoboken. Must be accessible via public transportation.

I know a few places have opened in the last few years, but don't know which ones are good / bad. We currently go to a place in NYC, but the commute back and forth is just too much.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Medrano. She saved us (we saw 3 other dentists before).

My 6 year old who never had a cavity all of the sudden got 6.
His fancy Tribeca dentist recommended we seek another dentist the minute he began to cry in her chair.
The one she suggested wanted to restrain him in straight jacket like a mental patient. Another one wanted to give him laughing gas.

Dr. Medrano had no issues with him whatsoever. She was able to do 2 cavities in one session and we saw her three times in one week. Not a single tear was shed. It was amazing.

I would highly recommend Dr Lawrence O'Mallon. He's in the heights, but not far by car from downtown. He has been in JC 25 years or so as a pediatric dentist. Their office is 3183 Kennedy Blvd and phone is 201 798 2322.

We have been to Dr. Medrano once. As it was the first dentist visit, it was just "cleaning" and we didn't even see Dr. Medrano, only the dental hygienist. We had a good experience there, people are nice and all. But the wait is inexcusable long. I kind of knew about before going in, after having read bunch of reviews, but still I do find it inappropriate to have a two year old wait 30 minutes after coming on time for the appointment. I think this is very common, especially on early evenings and Saturdays. I do not know what the wait is like in the less popular times.

I am looking a for a pediatric dentist too. My child has no problems but wanted to take him for a routine cleaning and check up. I want to take him to a office that is designed and deocorated especially for kids. Does that exist in Jersey City?

I know you asked for a recommendation in Jersey City, but just in case you want to try a great pediatric dentist in Tribeca (very easy to access from Jersey City), Renee Wild on Hudson Street (corner of Jay) is terrific. She's been looking after my two children for years, and her office is great about processing insurance. She has Saturday hours a few times a month. Good luck!

there are many dentists and previous threads that people have recommended dentists. while most dentists will treat children, there is sometimes a need for a pediatric dentist for many reasons .....

we have used Dr. Medrano and she has also been recommended by a few other dentists -

Melanie Medrano, DDS
307 York St Fl 2
Jersey City, NJ 07302

I just called Dr. Leung. She recommands me to bring my son to Pediatric Dentistry as I mentioned that my son has baby bottle teeth problem which may need some treatment. Dr. Leung does kid dental check up, but it depends on how cooperative the child is. As my son is very young (2y), she refer me to go to pediatric dentist.
After talking to Dr. Leung, I phoned Staten Island Pediatric Dentistry, they only accept partial of my insurance (Cigna) because they are not in the network. That means I have to pay half for every visit. The first time check up with x ray and flouide will cost $149 (which I have to pay half after insurance coverage). Do you think the price is reasonable?

I take my daughter to Dr. O'Mallon in JC Heights. I am very happy with their service. When my daughter was 17 mos old, she chipped a front tooth. He charged < $100 to check it out and subsequent visits (about 3 visits) to check the status of the tooth were free. My daughter just had her first real checkup - xrays, cleaning, etc. Charge was much less than $300. Dr. O'Mallon - 3183 Kennedy Blvd 201-798-2322

Thanks. I use denist in NYC as I work in NYC. However, I just want to try somewhere closer for the baby in case he needs multiple visits for treatment. I tried to call Dr Leung, but it's only answering machine. Any idea when she will be back? Additionally, anyone use Staten Island Pediatric Dentisry? I saw their brochure in my son's daycare and heard some good thing about the doctor. However, not sure if they will overcharge like Hoboken Pediatric Dentistry does.

+1 link's comments; same experience, but with a different Ped Dentist, Dr. Ngyuen, Dental Assoc of Hoboken on Washington St.

I told them to go stuff it when they presented the unreasonable and uncustomary $300 bill, which was in addition to what my insurance company paid as well as an unpfront payment for a simple cleaning and checkup for my child. Thankfully, I never heard back from them.

If you want good denistry work, head to NYC. Even for adults.
The last two J.C. dentists wanted to do unnecessary and invasive procedures on me with two different treaments for the same "problem". I confirmned such with 3 other professional opinions by my neighbor and close firends who incidentally do not practice denistry in Hudson County.

Stay away from Hoboken Pediatric Dentists. They way overcharged me and then made me pay upfront. They didn't process my insurance info after several phone calls by me. I had to eat it, and pay 300 bucks upfront for a four year old's check -up.

I now go to my regular dentist. Dr. Steven Winik on Glenwood Avenue in jc.

Dr. Leung in Hoboken is good with children. However, she is away for a couple of weeks right now.
