Call, call, call. And let's encourage our neighbors to do the same thing. 78 Erie. to be exact.

Went last night around 9. Really crowded which was a great sign. Funny that for a restaurant, no one seemed to be eating....I didn't see a lot of food, mostly people drinking and waiting. We were seated next to a couple who were still waiting for their food after 2 hours. We eventually ditched as our food seemed far off from making an appearance. Management was very apologetic saying the kitchen was understaffed for the night. Certainly cutting them some slack after just being open for a few weeks. Will try again, but not until they get things straightened out in the kitchen.

Our kids have been going to Dr. Lustiger's office for the past few years. Can't say enough good things about him and the other dentists there. And as a bonus, Dr. Lustiger is an avid Eagles fan.

Same thing for me last summer. Came out to the house to check out the work and never saw him again. Even speaking with him on several occasions after, he said he would send the quote. Nothing but crickets....chrip, chirp.

The same thing happened to me this summer with a bathroom, and I was an old customer - he had already done my kitchen and replaced two interior flights of stairs (not a job you'd trust to anyone). I know he was eager to move and his house was for sale, so maybe he has left the area.

Great time today!!! Took my 2 kids and they had a blast getting autographs (especially Phil's) and taking in the views. Very easy ride on the shuttle to and from Newport. All around great event for our city.

He approached me two weekends ago around 6pm outside of Basic. Said he had no ID, no wallet, no cell phone. Actually told me it was against his religion to bring his ID with him to a wedding he just had attended. He was so clearly rehearsed and had an answer for everything.

Our son is at Baby Galileo and is thriving there. He started as an infant at the Grove Street location and was recently moved to the Newark Ave. toddler room -- he is almost 18 months old, and the daily schedule/curriculum (music, movement, art, letter of the day, etc.) keeps him active and interested. Occasionally he sees a "classmate" at Hamilton Park and is so happy. We like that they have their own outdoor playspace (albeit small) and that there is natural light in the classroom. The caregivers are loving and attentive. The Director can be a bit brusque, but when I've had an issue with anything, she has been responsive. Feel free to pm me if you want more information. Of course there are always ups and downs with daycare, but having done daycare before for his two other siblings and having their experience to compare this to, we are satisfied.

Political Survey Call
#12

We just received our second survey call from "Universal Studies" asking questions about the upcoming 2013 mayoral election. It was by far the shadiest survey call my wife and I have ever received. Both surveys, one she answered a few weeks ago, and one I answered tonight were so pro-Healy, anti-Fulop that I had to write about it here. Both calls were stopped short and we both questioned the validity of the call and the survey. My wife was hung up on and my person had no answers. Anyone else get one of these? It was really odd.

Re: Any feedback on PS 22?

Our twin sons attended PS 22 for the 3 year old program, and despite our reservations about its distance from our home downtown and some of the public statistics about the school's success, we had a very good experience there. The Pre-K 3 teachers were very good, very accessible and wonderful with the kids. The staff was gentle and loving to the little ones - everyone from the security people at the front door to the Morning Stars/Casper staff - and our boys never had hesitations about going to school. We went over and met with the principal in August, and he was terrific too. My husband and I are both teachers and really felt our kids got a lot from the program. They returned to our neighborhood school for pre-K 4 (Cordero) and a lot of their pals from 22 came with them, so despite the fact that it was a new building for them, they were happy to know so many familiar faces. I understand your hesitation about the bus for a 3 year old -- we had the same and ended up driving them in the morning. The Early Childhood Office does do a "dry run" of the bus at some point in late August, and you are able to go along too if you'd like. You may want to contact the office directly about this. I hope this helps. I remember feeling nervous myself a few years ago...

Hi

We were hoping my 3yo would go to PS3, but has been selected for PS22. Its further away and will need to get the bus each day.

It doesn't have a good academic record but I dont think that is too important at this age.

Does anyone have any experience of this school? Would be nice to hear from a parent.

Thank you

Very happening bar scene and energetic and lively downtown. If there's one thing Philadelphians love more than their sports teams, it's booze.

4 of us ate there in the summer when they first opened. Service was extremely spotty (to be expected) and the food was hit and miss with an emphasis on seafood. Sitting outside with a view of the boats and the skyline at night was a nice touch. We also got a tour of the space (big enough for a wedding reception) on the top floor which was amazing!!! Looking forward to trying it again now that they have been open for a few months.

My wife went in about a year ago to grab a bag of lettuce....what she didn't notice was the bird sitting there on top of the produce. She grabbed the bag and the bird flew up and scared the crap out of her. Needless to say, her last visit to C-Town. Makes for a good story though...

I put my request in online sometime in early September for the tree in front of my house to be trimmed. 4 months later, I come home from work and notice I can see my upstairs windows from across the street....the job was done! JC seemed to do a really good job and the clean-up was thorough...and the cost was FREE.

Fight at Newport Mall Tonight

I just saw a crazy fight in the food court. There were sooooo many teenage kids just milling around when I came up the escalator. I should have turned right around, but made the mistake of getting my 2 very young kids a quick slice of pizza. Within 5 minutes a huge fight broke out with chairs being tossed and tons of black teenage kids running all around beating the crap out of each other with four useless female security guards following close behind. Fight started near the movie theater and ended up coming all the way around towards Popeyes chicken. I was with my two young boys who witnessed the chair throwing and the running and screaming of so many people. My description does this scene no justice. It was crazy and scary....

Stay classy JC.

The buffalo chicken is pretty damn tasty.
