Try Morton Williams in Newport. The Asian Market that opened on 440 might have some wild caught, but they told me all their shrimp are farm raised.

Not sure if you're willing to commit to a biweekly CSF share, but Village Fishmonger has a drop off in Jersey City at the JC Food Coop.
Most if not everything is wild caught and pick up is at St Paul's Lutheran near Five Corners. http://www.villagefishmongernyc.com

I have only seen that in certain high end seafood markets. You pay for it though ($18+ per lb for salmon). Over 50% of the seafood today is farm raised.
Big change from when I was a teenager working for a seafood wholesaler / retailer. Back then, the only farmed raised fish was Norwegian salmon.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any places that sell wild caught (non farm raised) fish in JC?stop and shop in bayonne doesn't seem to have much, not sure about shop rite. Was looking for any recommendations from anyone. Particularly looking for something in the downtown area. Thanks in advance!

I second Village Fishmonger. Super high quality. Locally caught. Pick it up right off 5 pts in Journal Square.

Blackened porgy fillets are awesome. You can anything to porgy that you would to tilapia or other white fish. Be careful of the fish you touch and get from Chinatown and some Asian markets in the area due to an allergic reaction that causes skin rashes.

I have not gone there yet but what about the 555 fish market on Central Ave. in the Heights. It's near the corners of Franklin and Manhattan across from the Stop & Shop.

I've only walked by the fish case at the new Asian Market on 440 (still got frozen porgy fillets from summer) but I'll bet it's pretty good. Asian customers are usually are pretty demanding of their fish from what I've seen.

I know its crazy but the meat and fish at shoprite are really good -- if you go when there is someone good there they will even help you select the best pieces. If you know what to look for I get great stuff there
they don't have much organic though (some meat but no fish)
