Was walking down Jersey Ave today and noticed that the guys from Buon Appetito are now operating out of the Wings to Go & Grande Pizza location at 520 Jersey Ave (corner of Jersey and Columbus)

Same question here.

Can we donate things like chairs, furniture, etc?

I couldn't imagine what I would do if I was in the same situation.

Hi all -

Together with Mayor Fulop and the United Way of Hudson County, I'd like to invite you to tonight's fundraiser for our neighbors displaced by the Grove Street fire.

The event will take place this evening, Wednesday December 4th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at LITM (140 Newark Avenue).

Attendees will be asked to make a donation at the door. Cash, checks and credits cards will be accepted. All checks should be written to ?United Way of Hudson County.? All donations are tax deductible, and all proceeds be distributed to affected families.

LITM will also be donating a portion of event food and drink sales to benefit fire victims and is accepting donated items to help families move forward.

To give online, please go to the donations page www.liveunitedhudson.org and indicate that you are helping fire victims. Text donations of $10 are also being accepted by texting subject UWHC FIRE to 52000.

Best,

Candice

The owner of that property has quite a few rental units downtown, surely he should be the first one to call. At the very least he can assist in finding something, at best he has a vacant unit that suits their needs.

an acquaintance and his roommates were among those displaced by the fire. they'd love to stay in the area, and are looking for an affordable 2-3 bedroom apartment downtown. please PM me with any leads.

Just recently returned from Tacloban where many Filipinos came to the aid of others. Now here in our own community there are some people caring enough to give something to those that just got crushed by simple bad luck.

It is very refreshing to know there are community businesses out there like Porto, Two Boots and Grove Bistro giving back to the neighborhood. Thanks to Candice Osbourne and anyone else that has been considerate enough to help these poor folks burned out of their homes. Good to know that I live among some heroes.

I went by, only 2 buildings (JJ Nails and Buon Appetito) were torn down.

I didnt realized the new Mexican Restaurant was next to JJ Nails. I saw some movement at the restaurant - so it looks like they got spared. However, the above floors were vacated but seemed untouched by the blaze.

The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District and the Two Boots Jersey City restaurant are hosting a night of good food, music and fundraising on Monday, Dec. 9 for the victims of the 4-alarm fire in Downtown Jersey City earlier this week.

There will be a required donation of $15 at the door, which will include a slice of pizza and a beer. Donations of clothing and non-perishable food will also be accepted.

Live music will be provided by local band Rock-it Docket. The fundraiser will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 133 Newark Ave.

Honestly, if I were you/your boyfriend, I'd take this Black Friday as an opportunity to buy a whole new wardrobe. Given the amount of water that was used, I'd assume everything in the laundromat was wet - not to mention I don't even know if the firemen's water had chemicals in it as well.

At a minimum, given the smoke, I'd assume everything in there would be in bad shape too.

Even if you could get it back, and wash it all again, would it be "safe" to wear? Perhaps at a minimum, all the underwear / under layers are goners...

Sorry...

How about you morons quit your jaw boning over who is the most compassionate for Jersey City and actually do something to help.

Per Candice's Facebook page:

"Text 52000, subject UWHC #fire to donate $10 to the families displaced by the grove st fire"

Now you guys can have a pissing match over who donated more. I expect to see all of your posts regarding how compassionate you were with $$$$.

As a point I was born and Raised in Jersey City and was on JC long before Buon Appetito.making comments like they could be at least save Buon Appetito shows a true lack of compassion no matter how much of a fixture burin appetito is,they r home for Thanksgiving and I am sure they are insured as well

IF you had scrolled down you'd see I WAS COMPASSIONATE with the 22 people who lost their homes and possesions. There wasn't any firefighers could do to save their apartments. Raging fires was just too much.

However, if you had lived in JC for years to decades long time residences know Buon Apettito. They've been a fixture to hard working, starving overtime workers coming from work and stopping by Buon Appetito's to order food. The guys and their employees are the best. We just have this comraderie with them. It's like an old family getting hurt.

Well said.

However, I don't think any of the other posters are "ignoring" the 22 people who lost their homes, or that their plight is any less than that of the pizzeria. I believe people are posting about the pizzeria only because it is what they know, what they are familiar with. Personally, I can't say much about the 22 people because I don't know any of them (except that I feel for them - after experiencing Sandy last year, I definitely have a better idea of how it feels to be impacted by a disaster), but I'm familiar with the pizzeria, and I do miss it.

Happy Holidays!

Saw the brothers this am as the buildings were being knocked down. They're great guys and it's really good food spot - they said they'd be back. Good to see many others from the neighborhood checking on everyone from that block.

They couldn't at least save Buon Appetito at least?!

They had the best Italian food in the area! I was going to get quarts of their sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
