Off topic. Dick, you should just start another thread since this is what you want to discuss.

Hello, as a Ward D resident for the past 9 years - I have seen Mr. Connors getting involved in PTAs, Little Leagues, every Neighborhood association, block/park clean ups and has even offer good dialogue in terms of keeping Heights safer with Police-on-the-beat on certain areas. He stopped crime on my block during an off-duty jog. Point being is that Connors may have been with the machine, but unlike the current Ward D councilman - he cares for the heights. He was born and raised here, and plans on seeing Ward D excel. Regardless of his associations, I will be voting for Sean Connors for councilman.

Edit: I'd like to add that he is very responsive from his Assembly office.

Lots of activity and speculation on the Dan Levin thread but still no rationale offered by Fulop supporters for the Connors selection. How is Levin running with Healy any different than Fulop selecting Connors ? It all sounds like typical Jersey City politics.

Oh wait a second, I thought Fulop didn't play that game ?

With Conners and Fulop together again Respectfully it must be submitted that Mayor McCann would be a notable JCIA director or even chief of staff.

Gee, did you say the same thing when Dan Levin announced he was running with Healy?

Of course not, we only use this sort of rhetoric for the candidate that we are for, not against... geez.

What a Joke. Fulop was one of Connors' biggest critics and vice versa. Not to mention Fulop's downright catty disdain for McCann, who is Connors' mentor.

This should give all the hardcore Fulop people serious pause for concern. You know, the folks who like to say that Steve is somehow different than everyone he criticizes. He is NO different. Go ahead and ask him to explain to you, without any pollyanish BS, how he can justify this kind of flip-flop after having been SO critical of Connors.

He can't. He won't.

Let's just say his political education background came from Uncle Gerry McCann, former mayor who was convicted of bank fraud.

Perhaps Steve should look in the mirror and say this:
?The easy route is not always the right route, he will learn, to just get a title,? he added, saying, ?I suspect that voters are going to have a hard time accepting this as anything than a character reversal making this about Dan ME and not about the public that he I said was the priority.? I'm curious to see how the Fulop folks rationalize this choice. Not only is Connors a hack he's a stupid hack to boot. And he brings McCann along with him.

Found an old post from you about the Grove street Synagogue-come-Mosque Brewster:

http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=41623

After all these years the building remains clearly a synagogue, so I suppose the historic rules you mention carry some weight. Though it is not in one of the four Jersey City historic districts, does it have an individual landmark designation or some such?

Robin.

Easy there brewster. The tribe is not in luv with the goyim(non-chosen) even if they receives lots of Christmas goodies from our Congress and fawning political class.

Healy needs to go but remember Fulop is still a politician...he'll do whatever it takes to get elected.......after the election he will disappoint the lot of ya....like all politicians. :)

Agreed, what a series of events, amazing!

Connors certainly does work hard, he is at every neighbourhood event and meeting.

Reminds me of that huge synagogue on Grove Street next to City Hall which now appears to be used as a Mosque, what's the story there?

Robin.

Unbelievable. 1st DanL runs with Healy, now Connors is aboard with Fulop. My head is going to explode. What next, Mitt appointed Secretary of Treasury? Yeshiva University renamed for Arafat?

Jersey City assemblyman running for City Council seat
By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
on December 20, 2012 at 1:23 PM, updated December 20, 2012 at 1:28 PMJJ

In a dramatic move bound to give Jersey City voters whiplash, Assemblyman Sean Connors has announced he is running for the Ward D City Council seat with a mayoral candidate he denounced just three months ago.

Connors becomes the fifth member of Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop's 2013 campaign.

A city police detective who won his first term in the state Assembly just last November, Connors endorsed Fulop rival Mayor Jerramiah Healy?s reelection bid in September, then retracted his support last month, citing Healy's leadership during Hurricane Sandy.

In an announcement from the Fulop campaign, Connors said voters need ?change in City Hall," adding that he is ?honored and humbled? to be a part of Fulop?s slate.

Fulop, meanwhile said he and Connors share ?a similar work ethic,? and praised the assemblyman for having ?his finger on the pulse of the community.?

?I?m proud to have him as a member of my team and look forward to campaigning with him as we begin a discussion with voters about the best way to reclaim the promise of The Heights and make it a trophy neighborhood with good schools, safe streets and recreational opportunities for our children,? he said.

The hosannas the two men are sharing today are a stark turnaround from the bickering they engaged in after Connors endorsed Healy in September.

Back then, Connors called Fulop ?un-American? after Fulop made a jab at the number of Healy endorsers, including Connors, who hold multiple public jobs.

Healy campaign rep Joshua Henne today issued a snarky response to the Connors news, re-purposing the comments Connors made about Fulop back when the assemblyman was in Healy?s camp.

"We completely agree with what Sean Connors said in September, that 'Mr. Fulop can not relate to the struggling working class residents of Jersey City,'? Henne said.

Ward D encompasses The Heights, and its current council rep, Bill Gaughan, has not announced publicly whether he plans to seek a sixth term. But sources say Healy?s camp had been grooming Connors to replace Gaughan in Ward D before Connors abruptly jumped ship last month.

The only other announced candidate for Ward D is Central Avenue newsstand owner Michael Yun.

The mayoralty and all nine council seats are up for grabs in next May's city election.

This is Connors' first attempt to run for the council. He was elected to the Jersey City school board in 2009, and stepped down at the end of his first and only term to become an Assemblyman in January.
