I've been catching the 126, but the first time I got through the line at PA at about 10:30 the bus that came wasn't stopping in Hamilton Park. So I waited and tried to time it so I'd get in the line at the right time to make the 11:15 bus. Which I did, along with a few other J.C. folks. The buses seem to be on schedule (10:20 and 11:15), but no way to assure you will get on the bus due to the line. Pretty silly system.

There must be a better way, but so far, that's the only way I've been able to get back home after 10. And it's for a very limited window. Otherwise, I think it's the 125 to JSQ.

What does NJT do in that situation? Do they run more than one bus at a scheduled departure time? Or are the folks waiting toward the back simply out of luck?

Vigilante thanks for the report, and that really sucks. Did you end up taking a minibus from PA to Journal Square to get home last night?

I was lucky enough to catch a ride with a friend.

one would have thought that they (the city, state, NJ tansit or port athority) would run late nite/early morning buses between manhattan and jersey city and hoboken to ease the pain/inconvenience.

Is the 12:30 bus running to Hamilton Park? It's not on the timetable...

I should have added that we live on Princeton Ave., which is near Garfield & Danforth.

Thank you all for your responses. They were very helpful. I texted them to her.

The Express 120 to Bayonne from wall street added some extra buses. Once in Bayonne you can then take the lightrail from 45th street back into JC. I haven't done in a week so not sure if its still operating that late.

According to njtransit.com, the light rail is running on its regular schedule. That might help people who manage to get to Hoboken.

I am not sure where in JC you live but here are some options for you.

There is the 126 bus from Port Authority that gets you all the way to the Hoboken Path train. Cost is $3.20 each way. This runs until 2 am but since there are no path trains to Hoboken this bus gets crowded.

There are jitneys that run on Kennedy from Port Authority and from what I remember they cost about $1. I might be wrong on the price. Not sure how late they run.

Also there are buses that go to journal square from port authority as well. There may be connections then to local buses.

In my opinion all options kind of stink since they are an inconvenience for all. I used to take the path to work and now I have to take a ferry that is 3X the cost.

Maybe next week the silly Path will get back to their senses and run the path all through the night.

Google NJ transit for options.

My girlfriend asks:

When is the path going to run past10pm?
I can't afford to pay sixty$ to get home from work.
