Was this the same Healy's son that failed his psychological test when applying to be a firefighter but still got in with daddy 's help and influence ?

Hey Jersey City come 2015 County Executive election time let?s not forget WE booted Healy out of office in 2013 for being incompetent and his good friend Degise handed him a County ?job?. So part of OUR taxpayer money is paying Healy?s salary. Let?s make the below picture complete and boot DeGise out of office come 2015.

Mejias says he suffered permanent brain damage from the beating, now suffers from seizures and has developed a brain tumor that will require surgery.

Interesting concept, but nowhere near provable with today's medical knowledge of the causation of brain tumors. Likely the tumor's bulk/location are causing his seizures. And if he's waiting around to have surgery to resect said tumor, he really needs to find a more competent neurosurgeon in a respected brain tumor center of excellence. Also, seizures are largely controllable (certainly not always eliminated) with the right medication cocktail - that takes a bit of time to find out. Again, you need a really good neuro that specializes in seizure control to work out that specific regimen. There are also some new surgical techniques to control seizure activity which can be effective (not always in BT patients, however).

Now that Healy isn't mayor anymore, are he and his sons as untouchable as they used to be?

Also, were the "two drunken Jersey City police detectives" on duty at the time and are they still on the police force since Fulop was elected?

It seems like Healy will continue to haunt Jersey City long after being voted out of office. Somebody needs to find an excuse to revoke that bar's liquor license. It is all just disgusting.

Mayor's Son Sued After Beating in Jersey City
By KEVIN KOENINGER
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CN) - Two drunken Jersey City police detectives and the mayor's son beat a man so badly he suffers from seizures, developed a brain tumor and lost his job, the man claims in court.
Hector Mejias sued the Jersey City, Healy's Tavern, Jeremiah Healy Jr., the Jersey City Police Department, several police officers and Dets. Chris Heger and Mark D'Ambrosio, in Hudson County Superior Court.
Mejias claims he was driving past Healy's Tavern on Sep. 29, 2012 when he saw three men beating a man in the middle of the street. He says in the lawsuit that all three men "appeared to be highly intoxicated."
Defendant Healy, the mayor's son, owns and operates Healy's Tavern, Mejias says in the July 16 complaint.
Mejias claims that he stopped, told the assailants they would kill the man unless they stopped, and that he was going to call the police on his cell phone, when "the men identified themselves as police."
The lawsuit continues: "The three men then started to approach plaintiff aggressively and appeared to be highly intoxicated.
"As the men were approaching plaintiff, plaintiff attempted to flee by getting into his vehicle.
"When plaintiff entered his vehicle, the three men opened the car door and started punching plaintiff violently in the head.
"In self-defense, plaintiff bit the hand of one of the assailants.
"Although plaintiff was able to bite the hand of one of his assailants, plaintiff was forcibly removed from the vehicle whereby the three individuals continued to beat him and kick him violently."
Mejias says police arrived soon and arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault, though the men who beat him and the other man were not arrested or charged.
"From police reports and media articles, plaintiff learned that the three individuals who beat him were Jeremiah Healy, the son of the mayor of Jersey City and the owner of Healy's Tavern, Detective Chris Heger and Detective Mark D'Ambrosio," the complaint states.
Mejias claims that the police defendants covered up the incident by filing false reports.
A grand jury found that the officers had no probable cause to arrest Mejias, according to the complaint.
Mejias says he suffered permanent brain damage from the beating, now suffers from seizures and has developed a brain tumor that will require surgery.
He says he is "permanently disabled and cannot function without numerous medications to control his seizures and other ailments that did not exist prior to the beating."
Mejias says that before the beating he was commercial truck driver, but because of his brain injury and seizures and the need to take medication, his commercial driver's license was revoked.
He seeks punitive damages for constitutional violations, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
He is represented by Mario Blanch of West New York, N.J.

Brawling outside a bar?

Couldn't happen. Jeremiah Healy (the son) would never do something Jerramiah Healy (the father) wouldn't.

It would be interesting to see some CCTV footage - If I recall, Healy's son failed his psycho test to be a fire-fighter and it would be interesting to know if the fail was because of his temperament !
I'd also like to see any statements made by an independant witness.
This guy arrested will not get a fair trial, especially with the close network of cops and the Healy family. The Healy family have had a very poor history of drinking and violence.

Because of the conflict of interest the trial should be held in a different county. And what is this biting ritual ? Since the Mike Tyson insident every inner city resident has resorted to this behavior. I wonder what diseases can be conveyed with this offensive act ?

This story doesn't make any sense. With all these off-duty cops on the scene, why on Earth would Healy's son get involved? Oh, that's right... mayor's son, cop entourage, understood.

Jersey City man charged with biting three fingers of mayor's son, police say

September 30, 2012, 7:00 PM
By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal

A 36-year-old Jersey City man police say bit three fingers on the right hand of Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy's son early Saturday, says the mayor's son attacked him for no reason.

Hector Mejias told The Jersey Journal today he was driving on Sixth Street near Newark Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday when his path was blocked by people fighting outside Healy's Tavern, a bar co-owned by Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy's two sons, city firefighters Jeremiah S. Healy and Patrick Healy.

According to Mejias, he was stepping out his white Saab when a man he later found out was Jeremiah Healy charged at him and punched him in the face and mouth.

Mejias said he bit Healy's fingers in defense, but when he got of his car, several off-duty police officers began beating him.

"They ran at me and started punching me for no reason," he said yesterday. "Nobody would help me because he's the son of the Jersey City mayor .. one guy said now you are f-----."

Mejias, who was charged with aggravated assault on Healy, said he was held at the East District precinct for seven hours before he was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center to be examined.

Cleared by the hospital for incarceration, Mejias said he was released from the county jail in Kearny 3 a.m. today after posting $5,000 bail.

Police officials tell quite a different story.

They say backup was requested by off-duty officers at the bar to quell a fight outside the tavern.

Nader Awad, 29, of Clendenny Avenue, assaulted two officers who were trying to break up the fight and he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, police reports said.

Then Mejias -- who acknowledges he's known Awad for a long time -- drove up and punched Healy who was outside trying to calm the situation, police reports said.

To stop Mejias from leaving the scene, Healy told police he reached into Mejias' car to grab the car keys and that's when Mejias bit him, police reports said.

A police officer ran to Healy's aid, removed the car keys and with other off-duty cops, subdued and arrested Mejias, reports said.

Jeremiah Healy could not be reached today to comment.

Mejias said he wanted to file a complaint against Healy at the East District, but officers told him he should tell his story to the judge when he appears at Central Judicial Processing Court tomorrow.
