Jersey City police have released security camera photographs of the man wanted for robbing a Downtown bank on May 17 and seek the public's help identifying him.

The suspect got away with $900 when he robbed the TD Bank on 18th Street at 8:47 a.m. after walking up to a teller and saying "This is a robbery," reports said. When the teller froze, he raised his jacket pocket in a gesture suggesting he had a gun, reports said.

Jersey City Police released these security camera images of a man who robbed a TD Bank on 18th Street.
After the robbery, the suspect ran from the bank and fled in a waiting car, reports said. Police said yesterday they tracked down the car, which turned out to be a hired livery vehicle. The driver said he dropped the passenger at Academy Street and Baldwin Avenue, police said.

The robber is described as being 45 to 50 years of age, standing 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 and of thin build, police said, adding that he wore a dark hooded jacket, baseball cap, scarf, and carried a gray backpack.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.

I know we're living longer but is a man in his 50s considered young these days?

Jersey City police say they have photos of man who robbed TD Bank on 18th Street - and the distinctive car he drove away in

JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

Jersey City police are looking for a man who got away with $900 when he robbed a Downtown bank Tuesday morning, officials said yesterday.

Officers responding to the TD Bank on 18th Street at 8:47 a.m. spoke to a teller who said a man walked up and said "This is a robbery," reports said.

When the teller froze, the robber raised his right jacket pocket in a gesture suggesting he had a gun, reports said.

After the teller handed over the money, the man ran out of the bank and into a waiting car, reports said.

He is described as in his 50s, of thin build, and wearing a black jacket, black hood and white baseball cap, reports said.

The car appeared to be a gray Mercury Grand Marquis with a black front bumper and missing hubcaps on the both passenger side wheels, reports said.

Police have bank security pictures of the robber and car, reports said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.

Shame on the Jersey Journal for perpetuating the stereotype of the freckle-faced thief.

This is not the first time for this bank in the old A&P parking lot -- by the Holland Tunnel and the Holland Gardens Complex: Click below to read old thread: http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewt ... id=247370#forumpost247370
View Larger Map From just a little less than a year ago... ============================== Man threatens teller, then robs Jersey City bank Monday, June 28, 2010 By CHARLES HACK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A freckled-faced man robbed a Jersey City bank Friday after threatening to shoot a teller, reports said. Jersey City police were called to the TD Bank at 125 18th St. not far from the Holland Tunnel on the report of a robbery at 7:28 p.m., reports said. The teller told police that a young, freckled-faced man approached her window as she was preparing a bank check for another the customer. Just as the customer stepped away to use a change machine, the suspect mumbled he wanted to "make a withdrawal," reports said. When the teller told him she was helping another customer, he replied, "You don't understand, I'm going to blow your head off. I have a gun in my bag. Give me the money in your drawer," reports said. The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money from the drawer and he left the bank, reports said. No weapon was displayed during the incident, reports added. Besides freckled-faced, the robber is described as thin, wearing a blue, long sleeve shirt with a NY Giants emblem on the front, a green-colored baseball cap, sunglasses propped up on his cap, and carrying a black and gray backpack, reports said. The robbery was captured on surveillance video and reported to the FBI, reports said.Resized Image Resized Image Here is an older Grey Crown Vic -- if bought used they are very cheap -- if you remember the Beltway Snipper had one.
