Wondering if anyone knows of a good carpet store/company around the area that sells and installs stair runners?

Auto Body Shop Downtown?
#3

Not too shy to talk

Wondering if people can recommend an auto-body shop in downtown area (or close to). Rear of leased car scraped up (mostly paint scrapes and a broken tail light). Was hoping to find a place close to home so I wouldn't have to travel by taxi somewhere.

Referral for Deep Cleaning of Storage Space/Boiler Room?

Wondering if anyone has a referral for a deep cleaning of basement storage space/boiler room.

A traditional house cleaner wouldn't work as there are cement floors and tons of post-construction dust from adjoining room that is now closed off. Includes cleaning of stored items/bins etc.

Thanks in advance.

Decided to try it out for a drink the other night. Pretty nice watermelon martinis. Fun and friendly bartender. That is all.

They charged $16 for a margarita last time I was there. Then added 20% tip on drinks, no food, bc we were a table of 6.

I loathe them.

Downtown Dance Instructor Charged w Abusing 8 year-old

Posting for parents. He worked at Next Step Broadway.

From NJ Journal:
A 35-year-old actor and instructor at a Downtown Jersey City dance school has been charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl who was a dance student and the child of friends, officials said today.

Joshua T. Stalls of the 200 block of Pavonia Avenue, made his first court appearance today on the charges of aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse, the criminal complaint says.

The alleged incidents occurred "on multiple occasions from September to November," while he had supervisory responsibility to care for the child, or while he stood in the place of the parents, the complaint says.

Hudson County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Debra Simon said the allegation is that the incidents occurred in Stalls' bed. The complaint says Stalls "performed prohibited sexual acts" on the girl.

Stalls was arrested yesterday and when appeared in court wearing the green garb of the Hudson County jail in Kearny, the judge informed him his bail had been set at $100,000 with a 10 percent cash option.

According to his online resume, Stalls has been a choreographer, arts instructor or music director in Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City, as well as several places in Tennessee. The resume also lists a number of theater credits and some television roles.

Information on how the matter came to the attention of police was not immediately available.

Stalls was remanded to the jail after the brief hearing in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City.

Any one with information on the allegations is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office's Special Victims Unit at (201) 915-1234.

Woke up this am to find somebody really liked my urns and pots of flowers and decided to hijack them the middle of the night. Amazing since the urns weighed about 40 pounds each. These are the days when I hate living in this city...

I only saw the aftermath. I was in the house and saw the police/ambulance lights and checked it out from my window. It was really dark out and a crowd was around the victim.

The pedestrian had the right of way. There was a stop sign. Who knows who is responsible for what. It's crazy to drive here and crazy to walk here. So many people pull far out beyond the stop sign to see if they can cross the Erie/2nd death stretch so I am guessing with heavy rain & darkness they didn't see the pedestrian.

The driver was there. A young woman. She was talking to police.

I think with the holidays coming, people are driving even crazier b/c they are so distracted and stressed...

A pedestrian was hit about 10 min ago by stop sign on 2nd crossing Erie. It looked like they were going to be ok but carried away on stretcher.

I feel like you roll the dice any time you drive or walk around this town :(

Went there Sunday with some friends. Loved the tator tot/bacon/sour cream appetizer. Margaritas were surprisingly pretty good. They messed up our order & 1/2 later told us. Gave us a free round of drinks & 50 bucks off bill. I appreciate that kind of customer service :)

Re: Do not use UPS delivery in downtown JC

Ups is the worst. I had four packages "left" at my door in the last year and they mysteriously disappeared. This is with signs in big bold letters asking nicely to leave with my neighbor or redeliver. Obviously anything left on a stoop is going to be stolen.

When I have called to ask about this policy they simply state the driver can decide whether he wants to leave it or not. So, basically he can keep it for himself, leave it to be stolen or keep going in his truck and throw it in the trash on his ride home because he is late for dinner. I have two great UPS guys who wouldn't do that. The other two are questionable.

I recommend calling UPS and having them write in their system that you want the package left with someone specific like a neighbor who is home all the time. Or pay for signature required. UPS told me that unless the delivering company has a deal with them not to leave it, they have no responsibility to the company or you to keep it or redeliver.

Can you tell I am over it?

Was just there this morning watching them practice. Amazing stuff.

I would say you will be able to watch it for free all around the park, close to the playground, on either side of blocked off sections on path along water etc. The planes fly pretty low around the cones so its not exactly an aerial show. That said, I would get as close to the path along the water as possible for best free views

Re: Needed: Contractor to Fix Sinking Backyard Patio

Thanks for feedback thus far :)

It's a backyard. Basically dirt covered by bricks. The people next door have the same problem and had gravel filled in at least three times in last couple of years. Obviously we need something more permanent to fix this problem.

We live in connected row houses so the only thing separating our yards is a wooden fence on each side. Am worried that if we fix our backyard it will still sink again in future unless our neighbors have their area fixed as well :(

After the recent flooding, my brick backyard/patio has started to sink. I need a contractor who can put it back together and hopefully prevent this from happening again :)
