Chop those Leaves with your Mower
Mow over the leaves on your lawn. You want to reduce your leaf clutter to dime-size pieces. You'll know you're done when about half an inch of grass can be seen through the mulched leaf layer. Once the leaf bits settle in, microbes and worms get to work recycling them. Any kind of rotary-action mower will do the job, and any kind of leaves can be chopped up. With several passes of your mower, you can mulch up to 18 inches of leaf clutter.

No. The only thing I want our illustrious Mayor and City Council to focus on is a balanced budget for 2011 that addresses our out of control property taxes.
I don't want silly plastic bag ordinances, nor leaf blower ordinances... or ANYTHING ELSE.... These guys need to focus on the budget and getting spending under control. FG

crazy idea........should we waste water instead to move debris from the curb and side walk........people are lazy and cityhall doesn't need to spend more money to get guys to sweep the curbs manually.
Residents could use the broom, but not contractors or cityhall on a large scale frequent occasion.  Who's liable if some-one falls on wet leaves on the side walk ?

Between the cars, the planes, the street cleaners, and the 2 AM Friday night drunks, our city streets are heavily polluted with noise. In the fall I have neighbors who use their leaf blower for hours on end right in front of my apartment and it creates so much noise inside my apartment I can't talk on the phone or really even think straight.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if you would support a ban on leaf blowers or a requirement to use a new leaf blower which keeps its noise below 65 dB. According to Wikipedia, almost 100 cities across the country have enacted such an ordinance. What do you think?
