I call up the store in Manhattan and was told it would be a year from now.

A guy from my gym works there (he might be an owner), he says they are still under construction, but plan to open. Curious about the comment about high prices - where do you find these types of products at lower prices?

No work has been started in months, if not a year! Looks like spare lobby furniture is being stored in this raw space.
There is no way this store will be opening anytime soon, if ever.

I took this pic with mobile phone yesterday.

When I asked them in Chelsea Market last month they said they expected to open at the very end of December (2011). I'm hoping that's still the case.

Story I got recently was they are not going to open in this location. The space does not have adequate plumbing for their business and their is no way to retrofit to make it work/too expensive.

I was biking past there the other day and I could see in the window and it was obvious they haven't raised a hammer yet. Don't hold your (garlic) breath, it's gonna be a while.

On a side note, the Buon Italia's brother and niece own and run SD26 in NYC. Definitely one of the best new restaurants in the city.

Trump Plaza Residences in Jersey City has announced that Buon Italia Italian gourmet market has signed a lease to occupy retail space in the building, and is due to open early next year.

Buon Italia is a 25-year-old Italian specialty food retail and wholesale company offering the highest quality product in every supermarket category, using only authentic ingredients in their on-premise foods. Their philosophy is to present the best product at the fairest value.

The Italian specialty market is already a favorite among New Yorkers who frequent its Chelsea location. The "source for all things Italian," the Trump Plaza location will house a caf? and wine bar with a pastry shop and gelateria surrounded by counter seating, in addition to its regular fare of fresh cheeses, charcuterie, fresh and dried pastas, imported groceries and prepared foods.

I am thrilled that J.C. will have a quality Italian food establishment at the residents fingertips.

I wish them better luck than the only other Trump retail business, TJ Florist, which has recently disappeared from the scene. They posted a sign saying they would be closed until Sept 6th and have not returned.

Buon Italia has a lease on the space. The signs are not Trump signs. They were put up by the retailer. Work on the interior space has begun. I hope it all comes together soon. Try thinking positive. You may enjoy your day a little more.
