For posting images viewable on this Message Forum the image must exist on the internet, many photo websites offer free hosting of photos and images.

Once you have the URL of the image there are 2 methods fo posting here, image tags and HTML.

Image tags are [ img ] your photo URL goes here but without any spaces [ /img ] - they go imediately before and after the image URL without spaces.

HTML allows you to resize, include a hyperlink, and more. You can see simple examples of HTML here:

Once you have written the code paste it into the text area when you Reply to a topic and click on the Preview button before you post to check your work.

Anyone have tips on sizing photos - I.e. can you tell the IMG tag how many pixels wide you want the photo to be? In other words, if your picture is 1024x768, JCList will shrink that, but can you tell it to make it a specific size like 800x600 or 640x480 or whatever...

Depending on whether you want your reply to be either public or private:

- hit the "reply" button directly beneath the person to whom you want to reply and then "quote" so their message is in yours and say what you want in response (public) or

- click on the person's user name, click on the "pm" button and write them a private message.

How do you also reply to a particular poster as opposed to the general thread?

Copy the URL address of the photo under the property tab (right click). When you are ready to post click on the photo icon (third one from the left). A dialogue box will appear above. Paste the photos URL address into the box and click okay. After the first click it will prompt with a second dialogue box concerning a position on the page. Just click okay again.
If the photo is one of your own you will have to first post it on another site like Flicker or Facebook. You can then copy and paste it from there using the same method as above.

I don't know if this is the best method, but I use the third button in from the left (to the right of the envelope, above SIZE). A window will open asking you to insert the URL of the image you want to add. I use Picasa for online photo management - it will give me a unique URL for each photo. (This should work with any online photo hosting - doesn't have to be Picasa.)

Edit: To be clear, upload your photo to the online host of your choice and use that URL to link to your image. The image will appear in your message (not the link).

If you have a photo(s) you want to post here or any internet site (most anyway), you need that photo's "address" of where it is located on the internet.

Sites like flickr.com, photobucket.com, etc, all allow you to upload your photo(s) on your computer to their site. Once uploaded you have an "address" that tells the internet where your photo resides.

Your photo will have an address that ends usually as .jpg, .gif and will look like this:

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/edi ... utofline/palinsketch4.jpg

To show the photo associated with the "url address" of this photo you add:

tag here before the "http" that is [img]

tag at the end of the address (here it's .jpg) that is [/img]

Create the photo on a website like photobucket or flickr from there you will have a link to embed into the post. If you can't figure it out email me the picture/s and I will do it for you.

I have searched the site and cannot find instructions on how to post a photo.
