Where is the Accountability? Where are the Community Leaders?
Where is Viola Richardson? Where is Sandra Cunningham? Where is Charles Manior? Heck Where is Al Sharpton?

Is anyone going to step up and take some accountability?

I feel bad for those children that do want to learn, most don't stand a chance as the leaders in Jersey City are failing them.

The public school system once worked well in Jersey City, my dad went to Lincoln, he must be turning over in his grave. I went to Ferris and on to college to a successful working career.

Jersey City once had leadership that cared!

Either our leaders step up, do their jobs or Jersey City is doomed.

It all starts with leadership, from the Mayor to the Parents.

I've lived here all my life, and I'm no spring chicken. I think the government and schools have always s****ed. And just like most decent people who come from JC, I think you and your Dad learned and became successful despite the schools and environment, not because of them.

Cops arrest 6 Lincoln High students tied to massive brawl inside the school

By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
May 11, 2010, 6:43PM

Six students were arrested at Lincoln High School in Jersey City today after a large fight led to a teacher being struck with a fire extinguisher, police said.

There was a citywide police response to the school, located at Crescent and Communipaw avenues, following the fight that began around 10:15 a.m. on the first floor of the school and bubbled up to the second floor, Police Chief Tom Comey said on the school steps at about 11:20 a.m.

Shamar Bey, 18, of Union Street, was arrested and charged with assault on a school official for allegedly throwing a fire extinguisher at a group of people involved in the fight that inadvertently hit a teacher, Police Lt. Edgar Martinez said.

The teacher was not seriously injured, Martinez said.

Bey is also charged with rioting and a weapons offense, Martinez said.

Dante Carlisle, 18, of Ocean and Ege avenues, was arrested on the charges of rioting and refusing to obey commands to disperse, Martinez said.

A Virginia Avenue boy and a Woodlawn Avenue boy, both 17-years-old, were charged with rioting and disorderly conduct, Martinez said, adding that a 16-year-old New Street boy and a 17-year-old Brinkerhoff Street boy were charged with disorderly conduct.

The massive response by police and ambulances was triggered by a report that one of those involved in the fight might have had a gun, Comey said, adding that police searched the entire school and no gun was found. Police are still trying to determine what triggered the brawl.

Police viewed security video of the fight to determine who should be charged. Lincoln High School is equipped with metal detectors and they were in use yesterday, said Board of Education spokeswoman Paula Christen.

"We are going to make sure, for residents and those at the school, that the rest of the school days goes without a hitch," said Comey of the heightened police presence put in place after the fight.

Martinez said there were no other incidents at the school yesterday following the fight.

Has anyone heard the reasons behind today's incident? Any insights would be appreciated.

Mayor Healy does not even come close to having the balls of Giuliani. As long as Healy and his Council are in office, the criminal activity will get worse.

Healy nor his Team could care less about Jersey City, especially the Greenville/Lafayette section, yet the people in that area continue to vote and support him and his team, go figure.

Those criminals Giuliani chased out of NYC now reside is the safe haven of Jersey City thanks to Healy's lack of a crime policy. Cory Booker is chasing the criminals out of Newark and guess where the are now residing.

Healy lives in the Heights where we also have much criminal activity, he does not even care about his own back yard, so how could you expect him to care about any other section of Jersey City.

We need vigilantes and mercenaries in Jersey City to get these animals off the streets.

As for educating and providing jobs, these animals do not go to school or work. The life of crime, joining gangs are what they have choose.

We need to rid these animals and their parents!

And these are the same students that skipped school two weeks ago to protest school budget cuts. Way to show us today how worthy they are of having other people's money spent on them.

A fight escalates to a city-wide assist as Jersey City police respond to a reported gun at Lincoln High School
By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal

police-at-lincoln-high-school.JPGJoe Shine PhotoJersey City police from all districts report to Lincoln High School after a gun was suspected to be on the premises. No gun has been found at this time.Jersey City police have beefed up security at Lincoln High School after a large fight rolled through the school this morning, resulting in an injury to a teacher who was apparently struck with a fire extinguisher and the arrest of four students, officials said.

There was a large police response to the school located at Crescent and Communipaw and Crescent avenues following the fight that began around 10:15 a.m. on one floor of the school and continued onto a second floor, Police Chief Tom Comey said on the school steps at about 11:20 a.m.

The chief said police are still in the process of viewing security video of the fight in order to determine what charges will be filed against the two juvenile and two adult students being detained. He said additional arrests are possible.

The massive response by police and ambulances was triggered by a report that one of those involved in the fight had a gun, Comey said, adding that police searched the entire school and no gun was found. The chief said police are still trying to determine what started the fight.

"We are going to make sure, for residents and those at the school, that the rest of the school days goes without a hitch," said Comey of the heightened police presence. "But again, if two people want to fight and they are 10 feet from a police officer, then they are going to fight."

News helicopters hovered over the school following the fight and groups of people stood in front of their homes and on street corners.

Additional information on the incident, including the names of the adults who were arrested, is expected later today.

In the past 5 minutes -- it's now 10:30 am -- at least 20 police vehicles have raced south on Grand St. towards Communipaw. Anyone have any information?
