I use a manual Chef'sChoice and it does a nice job:

I ended up buying a wetstone at Sears and doing it myself. Not a pro job like I wanted but still works pretty well. I'll just keep working on it.

A simple Wet Stone works on My Global Knives. For the straight razor, generally its leather hide that I see the old school shops use.

The art of shaving sells them as well.

too bad that lovely truck that I have seen drive around NYC doesn't make a right turn and head over here! I would use him too!

My kitchen knives are woefully dull and need a good pro sharpening. Are there any knife sharpeners in JC or other recommendations? Thanks!

Ask at any of the old time barber shops - anyone who gives shaves with a straight edge likely sharpens it themselves - they can even show you how to do it.

The Dominican place at 300 Newark Avenue's owner is really nice - that Barber shop ( Quisqueya )while it was on Ocean Avenue was featured in the film "On the Outs" -- he likely knows either how to sharpen it or where to get it done.

Can anyone recommend an ace blade sharpener? I need someone who specializes in the delicate nature of a straight razor, rather than an ordinary kitchen knife.

Downtown area preferred, but not a deal breaker.

Thanks in advance!
