This is just a shot in the dark, but I'll bet the new Surf Bar has enough frozen drinks to choke a polar bear. Mmmmm... frozen drinks...

There is a local JC honey maker, Liberty City Honey. You can buy their amazing honey at Made With Love - but hurry, supplies are limited.
I've been getting it for years. It does wonders for people with allergies. Liberty City Honey

How about registered Independents (or "unaffiliated)?
Can we vote in the Republican primary? If so, I'll gladly sign your petition.

You should wait until after the show airs and the property values plummet.

This is terrible news - not only because an independent record store is going out of business, but also because I've been living in Downtown for five years and never knew of its existence. I have been buying all my vinyl from NYC shops and occasionally Iris (when they're open). If I had know about Stan's I surely would have been a regular. F**king bummer.

Hobbies what are you talking about?

Look what Jennifer has to say about JC.
(she must be into fiction novels)

?Even Snooki and the cast of ?Jersey Shore? know that we have everything great restaurants, hotels, culture, diversity and proximity to New York City without New York City prices,? Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said in a statement.

?Those are many of the reasons people decide to move to Jersey City and why our city has become a choice of film producers who know we are home to great locations, great amenities and that we are business- and film-friendly,? Morrill added.
Buy the JJ....a real star!

I've produced four commercials that were filmed here and developed two films which eventually shot elsewhere. Maybe the beaurocracy is different if you're backed by an NBC budget, but in my more "independent" experience the ridiculous fees (including park fees, police fees, fire inspector fees.... All of which NYC doesn't have) and the exhaustive red tape made Jersey City a very unfriendly film environment.

That being said, I know the budget of Jersey Shore is significantly less than the budget of Mercy, therefore all the potential trouble may be too much of a headache for the production.

Exactly what I thought when I heard about this. Just keep them south of Grand street. It was annoying enough when "Mercy" was filming a few years ago.

If, and its a BIG IF, Jersey Shore filmed in JC the resulting annoyances would be nothing compared to the issues people had with Mercy.

Mercy was a network funded dramatic series - which means lights, trucks, street closures, extras, trailers...etc.

Jersey Shore is a much more low-key project, usually consisting of 2-4 handheld cameras and a small crew shooting in a "run-and-gun" style. MAYBE a few lights inside dark locations, and more likely bigger crowds if people know in advance where Snooki plans on getting her hair did, but for most of us this will hardly be an issue.

Personally, I doubt it will happen. The amount of red-tape hoop-jumping required to shoot in JC is far more than a reality show is willing to put up with. And, while I may not respect the Jersey Shore, it is a damn shame that this town is so incredibly unfriendly to filmmakers.

The PATH trains always smell like sh*t in the wintertime.
I'm convinced its because the heated seats are cooking the fecal-smeared underwear of our more mutant-like neighbors.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Same owners, yes - but different kitchen/chefs. There is a reason why the opulent upstairs is empty while the line to be crammed in the basement is out the door...
I've been going there religiously for over a decade and can a-taste to the difference.

Jersey City Police Department lay offs and budget cuts

I was at the 7th Street precinct yesterday and talking with a bunch of the officers there. Apparently (and forgive me if this is old news) the city is laying off 80 officers in Jersey City, 25 of which normally patrol downtown.

I guess the crime rate is so low, they can afford to take 25 officers from our neighborhood.

Just had my bike worked on by Frank at Frank's Garage: 333 Newark Ave, a few doors West of the little gas station. There are big brown garage doors and usually a bunch of bikes out front. He is friendly, reliable, inexpensive and will move emergency repairs to the front of the line.
