I went to the Parkside Bistro last night (Saturday). The nice thing about this restaurant is that the menu is diverse enough that you can order anything from a full entree meal, to a burger.
I remember when this place was "Deep Blue"- which never felt like a neighborhood place. Parkside Bistro's management gutted this place, painted it with bright colors, and made the right decision to serve good food, price it correctly, and ensure that patrons feel welcome, and will want to keep coming back. Good Work!

I got take-out from Parkside Bistro (next to Basic in Hamilton Park) last night, and both my fianc?e and I were very impressed with the food. I got a lemon chicken linguine dish that could have easily feed two people. My fianc?e got the chicken kabob that came with a fresh tomato salad and rice. We also got the homemade hummus appetizer with warm pita bread, that also could have served as an entr?e.
The owner says that they're working on their liquor licence so it's BYOB in the meantime. I hope the neighborhood comes out to support all these new restaurants, but I especially hope that people check out Parkside Bistro. With it's huge menu, variety of food and price points, I can't imagine people not finding something that they'll love.

Ok, just ate at Parkside Bistro again and I'm pretty sure it's getting better. I had the Shish Kebab tonight and the meat was tender and delicious. My wife and I also had the hummus which was excellent as well but we had to ask for extra pita because they give you way too much for just one. It's nice to have some variety in the neighborhood so we'll definitely be going again.

They use Kobrick's coffee. I saw the boxes on the floor behind the counter. It's from Hoboken.

I was there last night and ate dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. I appreciated that the staff was friendly and seemed not to be new to serving. They certainly didn't have that "this is my first week waiting tables" deer in the headlights look. The place had a good number of diners at tables and folks coming in to pick up orders. The atmosphere was nicer than I would have guessed it would be given how fast they seemed to turn the place from a repository for stoop sale crap to nice sit down restaurant. There were lots of nice details in the presentation of the plates that were nice to see too. Give 'em a try!

We got delivery from there the other night. They delivered withing 30 minutes which is pretty good compared to other places in the area. We also enjoyed our food and thought prices were very reasonable.

Tried it tonight. Got some take-out and they took 30+ minutes. The food was on par with Helen's. The hummus was good and there was plenty of it but they gave us ONE pita!! I was hoping for better but sadly disappointing.

I was happy with it and I also took notice that the coffee was pretty good. I am no connoisseur, but I know a good cup when I get one, and it doesn't happen as often as I'd like it to when I dine out.

It is byo.
My $40 was an estimate, with tip. It was an excellent meal and for an excellent meal, $40 for two in a sit down place with cloth napkins, friendly staff, and an attractive decor seems more than fair to me. It was much better than any meal I've had at the Embankment. By far! I couldn't get over how they transformed the place inside. It's got an intimate and inviting feel with muted colors, appropriately dim lighting, and smallish size.

The menu looks good, tons of selection! I hope they do well, I'd rather eat here than Basic's microwaved food anyday.
The prices are very reasonable, from $5 to $18, lots of items to pick from if your budget is tight. I am looking forward to trying them out.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night and had a great meal. Before it opened I was hoping for a place with home cooked food done well, reasonable prices, and friendly service. It was a tall order and I was pretty sure I was setting myself up for disappointment. Low and behold, this is exactly what Parkside Bistro does!
I had the eggplant rollatini ($10ish). Everything on my plate was fresh tasting, the eggplant was perfectly cooked (crispy and not greasy), and their homemade marinara was almost as good as my own. My boyfriend had the kebab platter ($15ish). I had a bite of the meat which was tender, well seasoned, and just really yummy. His plate included white rice, a small chopped salad (a little heavy on the onions), pita, and a yogurt sauce. We both had coffee and I almost immediately commented how good it was. Later our waiter (the owner maybe?) asked if we were enjoying it and explained that they were using a very local roaster who had worked with them on creating the blend. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was simple, fresh, and delicious. The check was under $40. The diners were happy.

I haven't been able to eat there yet but the menu looks really good. Nothing fancy but a 'comfort food' restaurant. They deliver too so I am happy they opened in our neighborhood.

Ate there today and it was pretty good. Not the best food I've ever tasted, but I'll cut them some slack because it's really only their second day open. As far as I'm concerned it is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. They have a large selection and a nice little restaurant that gives us some much needed options. I'll give them a week or two to get settled and then try again.

WOW... Bless JClist. How did it get to this... I just asked about the space.
Yes Vlad is a jackass, his brother is now in a hospital, Vlad beats people in the street, he once untied my dog from his fence while i was inside Basic and i almost killed him... BUT, I really just wanted to know about the space. I really don't think he is going to be involved in the resturant. From further investigation i found out that an Egyptian man is going to be opening up an Italian resturant. I am sure that some one on here will ofcourse have something smart to say about that!!!!!

The owner of Basic does not own that building. It is owned by the Russian guy who also owns that tall brownstone on 8th. Street right next to Basic. He's a bit of an oddball and is not easy on tenants. I remember the sign he used to have posted in that empty restaurant space. It read "Restaurant space for rent. $10,000 a month. very expensive". As if we needed to be told that!

Doesn't the owner of Basic own that part of the building ? Perhaps he is expanding due to the condos being built near by and the lack of an another sit-down eatery in the area especially since the little diner on 7th St. flew the coup.

Does any one have any info on the new resturant/store/?? that is opening on Erie ( next to Basic). I see alot of work being done there and it looks like there may be a resturant opening up soon.
