Great point. We're not even dealing with the entire bone-headed cast, it's just two of them, and they're the most popular.

I didn't even know that Jersey City had a reputation that could be tarnished. Our city is not like Seaside Heights or even Hoboken for that matter. We don't have a big club scene or juiced up meat-heads walking around so why would this ruin our reputation? Won't they be interacting with people from the area? Hopefully, viewers will see what JC has to offer and will realize that not all "Jersey" is the same.

True, you know those sleazy stripper clubs which the NYC mayor got rid of? Let's bring them here!

Good for business!

What happened to those Tonnelle Prostitutes? They were good for business too!

Let's also have those legal pot shops in CA - good for business.
What else is good for business that is depraved, dirty, and considered the dregs of society? Let's show them how "friendly" we are.

There is a reason the Hoboken mayor denied them permits. It's because she knew the short term gain - boost in income in whatever restaurants they visit - will not outweigh the long term negative aspect of this...

Just think to yourself - When you think of a clean family beach to go to, how many beaches pop into your mind before Seaside Heights? Yeah..I thought so. Use your brains for a second...

Lighten up, they're coming. I'm trying to find a positive spin on this situation. The reality is, it may have a negative effect on the city long-term, but none of us really know what's going to happen. It's all speculation at this point.

I'm sure Seaside Heights is doing fine, Florence is doing fine, Miami is doing fine. These people don't ruin the towns they go to, but they do make you think about them. I had never heard of Seaside Heights before the show. Maybe I'm single and ready to mingle so I'm going to Seaside Heights. Works both ways.

I agree. Why would we make them feel unwelcome almost guaranteeing a negative response to our city? Maybe this will have a positive impact and drive traffic to local stores and restaurants. Who knows, it may even attract businesses who wouldn't have otherwise thought of Jersey City.

This could go either way, but treating our guests poorly is a sure fire way to get negative publicity.

It looks like 3 new stores are coming to Hamilton Square. Sophie Sophia Cakes http://www.sophiesophia.com/, Hound About Town http://houndabouttownjc.com/, and GPs Italian Restaurant in Winter '12 http://gpsrestaurant.com/. They announced the lease signing of GPs on Facebook.

I also read that Hamilton Inn wants to open a brick-oven pizza restaurant in the defunct Vespa dealership on 10th. http://www.jerseycityindependent.com/ ... -vespa-jersey-city-space/

Anyone have any more info about this? It's scary that this could happen so close to the park and Christos'. Where are the cops in this town, shouldn't security be heightened this time of year?

BonChon is amazing, please support this business so it sticks around longer than the Atomic Wings did. I would highly recommend.

I bought my place 2 years ago and I'm still dealing with the same issue. it's a huge pain in the ass and I'd love to know any solutions that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I used to have a lot of trouble getting to sleep but now I turn my fan on high next to the bed to drown out most of the noise. It seems to do the trick most nights.

Management Company

My building's association is looking for a new management company do to the inadequacies of our current one. Does anyone have a recommendation for us?

At the moment we are looking at two options:

1. RELB in Hoboken. I've heard good and bad things about them. They are substantially more expensive than our current company, but I've heard they are attentive and do well with large projects. I did learn, however, that they tend to jack up the prices for materials bought for the building including light bulbs and garbage bags. Right now we are leaning towards them but would love some input.

2. D & M in Jersey City. I don't know much about them except that a nearby building recently selected them to manage their building. They seem legit, but I don't know much about them.

To be clear, we are looking for a company that is efficient, attentive, transparent and relatively affordable. We will pay for good management if it means all other expenses will go down. Any info would be greatly appreciated as we are suffering with our current management company.

Thanks in advance.

My wife and I ate at the Hamilton Inn last night with a couple of friends who also live in the neighborhood and encountered a lot of the same problems people have been complaining about.

The good news is the place looks great and seems like it would be a fun place to hang out and drink some beers. The bad news is the service and food were sub par at best. First it took a while to get seated even though we had reservations. Then it took a while to order. When we finally got our food, one of the orders was incorrect and my wife, who had ordered a burger well done, received a burger that was boderline rare.

I'm generally not one to complain about restaurants because I'm not a very picky person, but it would be nice if they could step their service up a bit. I'm sure we will go back because we like to support local establishments, but we might give them a while to settle in to get things in order.

Ok, just ate at Parkside Bistro again and I'm pretty sure it's getting better. I had the Shish Kebab tonight and the meat was tender and delicious. My wife and I also had the hummus which was excellent as well but we had to ask for extra pita because they give you way too much for just one. It's nice to have some variety in the neighborhood so we'll definitely be going again.

Ate there today and it was pretty good. Not the best food I've ever tasted, but I'll cut them some slack because it's really only their second day open. As far as I'm concerned it is a welcome addition to our neighborhood. They have a large selection and a nice little restaurant that gives us some much needed options. I'll give them a week or two to get settled and then try again.

I hope I'm wrong but I heard the deal for the restaurant fell through even though the new buyers put a ton of money into renovating the place. Like I said, I hope this is not the case, but I heard from pretty reputable source. Something needs to go in there because it is depressing how little we have to choose from around here.

A quality BYOB Italian restaurant in HP would be amazing.

I could also go for a really good italian deli, anyone from Hoboken would be fine. There's nothing like fresh Mozzarella and Italian meats on freshly baked bread. I'd be there three or four times a week.

A nice, clean market or at least a butcher would also be a good addition to HP. There doesn't seem to be any place to buy meats for dinner without a car.

Agreed! Newark Ave could be a great place to shop and dine but at the moment it is littered with 99cent stores and rundown shops. Downtown Jersey City needs a main street it can be proud of.

I agree, I think that people would support a business that is unique and affordable. Restaurants probably have the best chance of survival because there is not much competition in the HP area, but other businesses could thrive if they hit the right cord and price point. I think the biggest problem is that what we have right now isn't that great. If we had a few really good restaurants to choose from nobody would be complaining. Another major problem is that there is a major lack of retail space. We can argue about whether there should be more retail in HP until we are blue in the face but the fact of the matter is there is nowhere to put said retail. If Hamilton Inn ever returns and the bar formally known as Beret's Simple or Simple Beret's opens up again with food that is better than before (shouldn't be hard, their food was terrible) things won't be so bad. As is we have one or two bars to choose from, a sandwich shop and a few delis here and there. Adding those two back in the mix would greatly add to our neighborhood. Hopefully the shops at Hamilton Square will open up and really give us some options.

I've been in Hamilton Park for two years now and the thing I complain about the most is the lack of retail in the immediate area. I know we're close to a mall but there is something comforting about going into a unique store or restaurant in your own little neighborhood. It gives the area character and gets people out of their homes and walking around which in turns make the area feel safer. After 6pm the Hamilton Park totally shuts down, at least in the winter, and it feels a bit like a ghost town. Sure, it's nice that it's quite, but wouldn't it be great if you had a few choices when you wanted to go out with friends or grab a bite to eat with your significant other?

I lived in Hoboken for four years and I used to walk home at 4 in the morning. Never once did I feel like I was in danger and it was mostly because businesses on Washington Street stayed open all night and other people were walking around. I walk home now at 6pm and I'm looking over my shoulder because it's me and maybe one other person walking around.

Anyway, that's just my take on things. Not sure if things will ever change, but a guy can dream, right?

Vigilante,

JC Block Watch is trying to locate the woman to get a description of the man who followed her so Police can be on the lookout. Any chance you have that info, I believe you said you knew who she was.

Thanks

The sooner they get this going the sooner we get to enjoy all that the new park has to offer. I know it's during the "peak" season but who cares? There is a park literally 3 blocks away. If they can get it done this year then they can have it ready for us early next year or maybe even at the end of this year. At some point it will have to be closed off for a portion of a peak season, why not now? Close it and get it done, I'll go somewhere else for my recreational activities...for now.
