Or by looping around on Washington...

I especially like it when I am going thru the Holland tunnel, the light is green but I am waiting to move up till there is space ahead so I won't block the box, and everyone behind me starts honking.

This complaint was brought up several months ago at a Captain's meeting. Captain McDonough's answer was essentially that all the PATH Police care about is getting the cars through the Tunnel. They're not concerned about traffic within Jersey City. It's up to our local officials (police, city council, whoever) to get the PATH to change this policy, if only temporarily. I did notice increased enforcement by the PATH police a short while after this meeting.

Yes, this one's a perennial. I brought it up a year or so ago at an HPNA meeting and Mcdonough at first gave the usual about it not being his turf, but when I pressed him he said he could approach the PA through their liason. There was some communication about it, then that was the last we heard. Neither JC nor the PA gives a crap. Cameras are easy, caring is hard.

Exactly, a camera would fix this real quick and pay for itself even faster. What's the hold up? Is this something we can, en masse, request of the new (or returning) Ward E councilperson?

There is nothing worse than this. I get so friggin aggregated when idiots block the box near 12th and Erie Street. The light is short as it is, and jackoffs constantly block the intersection. There should be a cop at every corner going North near the tunnel and give people gigantic fines for doing this.

Why does JCPD and/or PATH Police do nothing to prevent people on 12th St. from "blocking the box" entering the Holland Tunnel. There isn't even a SIGN that says Don't Block the Box, much less cameras to photograph offenders or police to enforce it. I don't think you even need a "real" officer, just someone on foot directing traffic and giving out tickets. Is this a turf battle or just indifference?
