We don't think we're immune. We should just be better protected than the rest of JC becaus, hey, let's face it-we pay the taxes and take nothing from the welfare programs.

Yahoo - these are the same people who will cry about crime in their backyard but won't get off their duffs to even vote. Politically agnostic until it affects them.....

You're right there is nothing funny about this. But some downtowners think they are immune from the problems suffered by the remainder of the citys' inhabitants. This type of gallows humor highlights the ludicrousness of such a false sense of security. We have 13 days to make a decision as to whether we will continue to buy Mayor Healys B/S about crime being down or to replace this completely incompetent excuse for a chief executive. Remember the broken windows theory. If you have windows that are broken and not fixed no body thinks too much about another broken window. We just accept it. Well the window (Mayor Healy) is broken we can accept it or replace it. It's your choice. I know what choice I'll make but I can't do it alone.

This really effects Healy's credibility. I would love to see actual stats, cause I think he's full of doo-doo. Well, we know that in general, but this specifically. I'm voting for Palin!

He said that crime was down. Tell a lie often enough and people will believe it.

This is the the proper way to do a stick up. A bandanna, no tacky ski mask or hoody and "I'll blow your head off" is a classic line, it is firm yet not trendy, vulgar or disrespectful. Old school, I like that in a mugger. If only he had opened with "stick em up". I would pay extra just to hear that.

How does carrying cash make someone stupid. On a daily basis going into different establishments cash is constantly being exchanged. I'm sure this is the case all over the United States. $27 isn't so much to lose. The issue here is the crime being committed, not that the guy who got robbed is carrying cash. How does that make him stupid?

I meant the robbers are stupid not the victim.

Wallet taken by gunman
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
A Jersey City man was robbed at gunpoint in Paulus Hook early Sunday, police reports said.

Called to Washington and Essex streets at 2 a.m. on reports that a man was robbed, police met with the 26-year-old Warren Street resident who told them a man with a bandanna covering his face walked up to him, showed him a black handgun and said, "Give me all your money or I will blow your head off," reports said.

The gunman ran east on Essex Street with the victim's wallet, which contained $27 cash, his driver's license and credit cards, reports said.

Police searched the area, but couldn't find the holdup man.
