The law is on the books. It just needs to be enforced. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_strike_you're_out "One strike, you're out is a colloquial term for a policy adhered to by public housing officials in the United States which requires tenants living in housing projects or otherwise receiving housing assistance from the federal government to be evicted if they, or any guest or visitor under their more or less direct control, engage in certain types of criminal activity on ? or in some cases even off ? the premises of said housing."

Gentrification means replacing the decay and crime in a neighborhood with renovation and safer streets. People of all colors can participate in this process. Your ethnic characterization of the process is malicious.

sounds like everyone here is in favor of a little something called gentrification...let?s kick all the minorities out of jersey city and replace them with yuppies who live in condos....why is it that minorities cannot create their own wealth, through their own businesses? Every where in this country "improving" a community becomes synonymous with kicking colored people out and replacing them with white upper middle class people.....sad.

YES! More homeless families and starving children! That's what we need. It would be great... crime would probably go way down, yes!

Wish it were that simple JRL. Actually, it is...get rid of section 8, welfare, illegals and I bet crime will go down drastically. If all the same residents stay here, it will continue not to matter whom we have as a mayor.

GnomeGeneral, who does the police work for..they work for the government...who is suppose to provide the citizens with policing and protection....the government. When you have a Mayor that boasts crime is down is that not saying and showing government is accountable. Unfortunately crime is not down and our Mayor just has not done enough against the growing crime problem. He is got to go and put people will govern and attack the number one issue in Jersey City..CRIME.

At the end of the day I hope we are all pissed off about the Crime, Drugs, Shootings and Gang problems we have in Jersey City. I want to see not matter who is running our city go balls to wall and declare War Crime, Drugs, Shootings and Gang problems. We the people must force our elected officials to do so. My problem with Healy and his Team is they have been in office for quite a while and goddammit do not do enough or even attempt to. They have done nothing to deter these problems, they just are growing under the Healy administration.

This kind of stuff was happening to me and my friends in the mid 90's by #8 school in the heights. Healy wasn't the mayor then. This type of group attack has been going on for ages.

Sounds fantastic! Except they live in rent controlled buildings and with this administration they are the most protected class. And you've got fools here downtown crying to protect them, "waaa they have no opportunities." Until one of them gets mugged by a pack of these "boys and girls".

Allege 3 teens among group that attacked 4
Jersey Journal Wednesday, April 01, 2009 Three teenage boys, two of them 15 and one 16, were arrested on charges of attacking and robbing four Ferris High School students in Jersey City on Friday, reports said. The four students, ages 15 and 16, were walking west on Montgomery Street at around 3:18 p.m. when a group of roughly 14 boys and two girls pounced on them, reports said. Two victims each had iPods stolen valued at $200 each, reports said. Two other victims escaped without being robbed, but they were punched and kicked, as was one of the boys who lost his iPod, reports said. Three teens were arrested Monday on charges of robbery, reports said. A 15-year-old was additionally charged with resisting arrest, reports said.
