Q: Should my child attend if they have a fear of being urinated on from above by a jersey politician?

This faux Grateful Dead concert was an "All Ages" event and started at 7pm - see link below:
http://www.jambase.com/shows/event.aspx?eventid=791174

This is from the club's own website:

Q: How old do you have to be to attend shows at Nightclub 9:30?
A: Unless otherwise posted our club is All-Ages, All The Time.

Q: My child wants to attend an all-ages show at 9:30, but I feel nervous?
A: We've been doing all-ages shows for many years, but the decision to let your son or daughter come to a show here is obviously up to you as a parent. We suggest attending a show with your child so you can get a first-hand experience of how we run the club and treat our patrons. We're confident that once you've been here you'll feel comfortable about allowing your child to come to 9:30 shows.

Q: Do I need ID to enter the venue?
A: An ID is only required if you plan on drinking alcohol. Because we are an all-ages venue we take checking ID's very seriously.

I think i'd rather vote for a corpse than Lipski.

A lot of the club's shows are "all ages" -- I hope that wasn't true in this case.

I wonder if this arrest will have any impact upon his standing as the Executive Director of Jersey City's CREATE Charter School?

Can an educator gain the state clearance necessary to be part of a school with an arrest/conviction record?

+1.

I've noticed elected officials working side by side, some of whose judgment and character support a standard of professionalism as such and some whose behavior seems to undercut the real importance of their post. Unfortunately, when they are re-elected, there's little incentive to change.

What's the difference between taking oneself too seriously and taking oneself seriously at all? How does that translate to action, on and off the job?

Imo, this report is about many things, including personal frailty and a deep cynicism.

Maybe now Jersey City will finally repeal those antiquated anti-public urination laws. Newark Avenue will never reproduce the success of Washington Street while that laws on the books.

It was not just any tribute band, it was a "Grateful Dead" tribute band. Does the man have NO shame, or taste? Peeing off the balcony is awesome but not awesome enough to cancel out attending a Grateful Dead show.

I was going to mention that but didn't want to offend any "Dead Heads." Shameful!

OMG. Every cop is a criminal and every politician is a low life. I deal with people publicly urinating in my neighborhood who really don't know better. I hope Lipski resigns. He has made a fool of Jersey City and its residents.

Jersey City Councilman Steven Lipski is No. 1 threat at Washington club

BY RICH SCHAPIRO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Sunday, November 9th 2008, 12:06 AM

A drunken Jersey City councilman was arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of a Washington nightclub, police and club sources said Saturday.

Councilman Steven Lipski was caught relieving himself onto several revelers at the 9:30 Club during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute band Friday night, club sources said.

"He was very drunk," the source said, noting that it wasn't the first time Lipski had caused a ruckus at the popular concert venue.

"We've dealt with this man before," the source added. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."

Lipski, 44, was hauled out of the club about 9:50 p.m. after staffers spotted him in the act on the concert hall's second-floor balcony and called the cops.

The crass councilman, who is serving his second term in office since getting elected in 2001, was charged with simple assault, police said.

Attempts to reach Lipski were unsuccessful Saturday night. His aide, Irina Zaki, said the councilman was in Washington Friday night, but she had no knowledge of his arrest.

The lurid incident marks the second time in recent years that a Jersey City pol was caught with his pants down.

Photos showing Jerramiah Healy, still a councilman at the time, naked and passed out on his front stoop were widely circulated in 2004 days before he was elected mayor.
