That is a really bad intersection. Driving east on York, you cannot see the intersecting traffic on Jersey from where you must stop. If the cars are parked on Jersey to the corner then there is very little visibility to the north. When I drive that way, after I stop at the sign, I have to edge into the crosswalk to get a glimpse of what may be coming down Jersey. And it's all the more difficult since it's two way traffic.

Stop signs on Jersey or traffic lights would be helpful. But I'm guessing that the city doesn't want to do that since Jersey is a heavily trafficked two way street and needs to keep traffic flowing.

LOL -- i posted a long ranting complaint about the crossing guard on Marin and Grand over a year ago and almost got chased outta town by some hardcore JCListers long gone (I hope).

What a difference a year makes.

So true with regards to JC crossing guards. Over by Communipaw, I have seen a mother with two kids almost get ran over because some crossing guard gave them the go ahead wave without bothering to stop the traffic that had the green light... yup, a big, speeding SUV gave them a nice morning scare! Those kids probably had to run back home and change their drawers.

actually the Volvo that hit the cop car was given the go ahead by the crossing guard.

whats the bet the car that hit the cop car was doing one of the following;

1. On the cell phone
2. Radio to loud
3. ipod to loud
4. fixing their hair or make-up
5. reading
6. eating
7. chatting with others in the car
8. scatching their crotch
9. blowing their nose
10. drunk or stoned

You must be lost if you think that the SW corner of VVP is close to Exchange Place...

Regardless, I go past that corner every morning while riding my bike to work and have often had the pleasure of having to jam my brakes because some yahoo mistook the stop sign for a Coke sign. Seriously, what is it with JC drivers and stop signs?? That, and the utterly disregarded red lights!

With all this talk about city budget shortfalls, I would have expected by now some city pol to ask for increased police enforcement of the scofflaw drivers. The city would make a TON of money in very little time.

And what happened to the mini- man? I hope the little fellow was not too badly injured.

a cop was speeding thru the morning traffic; lights and sirens on. Another car hit the cop car at the tail end. the cop car spun and hit another mini-man.
within mins every cop in the area was there to the rescue.

The passengers in the other cars looked ok but they took a long time to pull the cop out. hopefully he was ok.

But the cop managed to get his car to stop in time before he hit a whole bunch of other cars and shocked pedestrians.

That intersection is too chaotic with the Exchange place and school traffic.

No idea, but I live near the SW corner (York & Jersey) and minor accidents at that intersection are fairly common.

[insert wisecrack about Jersey drivers here]

Anyone know what went down? Saw a police car crashed up on both sides and a white volvo that was damaged in the front. Not sure if it was a routine crash of if the police car was chasing a stolen car.

If nothing else, nice to see some police presence around VVP - near some burglary spots from last week according to reports in this site...
