Fulop releases ad pushing ethics reform

Jersey City Councilman Steve Fulop, widely believed to be gearing up for a run for mayor next year, has released this ad depicting a do-nothing councilman with multiple jobs as part of a campaign to get an ethics reform referendum on the ballot.

The measures Fulop is proposing would prohibit no-bid contracts to campaign contributors and eliminate city council salaries for those with another job in government.

None of those Concilmen work for the Mayor. They work for County Executive Boss Degise. They all know Healys a joke.

Jersey City politics is not about one person. It is the laviathan called the Hudson County Democratic Organization that must be slain if we want real change. Most employees from a crossing guard to Senator Melendez owe their allegiance to the machine.

I was born and raised here and worked on one person's campaign a long, long time ago. Without ever asking, I was told to apply for a particular job that was a "sure thing" if I wanted it.

When FDR said that "they may be son of a bitches, but they're our son of a bitches," he was referring to the machine politics of Mayor Daley of Chicago and Mayor Hague of Jersey City who can deliver their respective states in national elections. Although their influence has diminished on the national level somewhat, that machine mentality is still ingrained in HC politics.

Not fat and sloppy enough? I can't believe that the double dipping councilman would actually stay at his desk long enough to turn the "tray". How could they get their drinking done if the stayed in the office that long?

Could this polar bear be the new aide to the County exectutive replacing Councilman Gaughan? Or, maybe this is the guy that the HCDO is going to run for fulops vacant council seat next year.

Ok, just look at the front page of the Jersey Journal today. Several chubby council persons (probably nice guys) and one chunky mayor.

All the councilmen dont have to be fat & sloppy like the ones that work for the mayor. Some can be trim, fit and altruistic like this fine councilman.

Can we expect some more commercials like these? I thought it was pretty funny and true....

this thread title is misleading... when i saw it at first i assumed that our little ole town had a video related to it that was the most viewed on youtube. change the title to " 'betterjc.org commercial #1' - youtube link " !

Its a pretty funny commercial, however I think maybe tghe clock could have loomed a little larger on the lower left hand corner. Just a little constructive criticism.
