What about the guy that sits like a parrot next to the parking machine on the ground floor (by the McDonald's exit/entrance)of the Newport Mall parking lot. He's pleasant enough and not aggressive at all, but it's annoying that most of the time, he's there. He disappeared for a while, but showed up again right before winter looking cleaned up, but now he is a total mess...at least I see him eating in the mall, so the money or some of the money is going to food.

EXACTLY !! Beer, not wine...you can't compete with MC in the neighborhood, so go with your strength. Beer, Scotch, Whiskey.... but no Skinny Girl wine please.

I went on Friday night, Feb 28. Pretty good selection, enough to keep you trying new beers. I like the place. One thing..what are you doing with Skinny Girl wine??? Curious, did you sell any of that stuff?

Went late Saturday afternoon. Music was too loud, though staff turned it down slightly after 20 minutes. Again, just like MAE. . . ventilation seems to be an issue. The place smelled from the kitchen. Like the set up, the ramen was very good, coffee was excellent...service was attentive enough.

However. . you definitely cannot have the place smelling like a burning smoky kitchen.

CC knew. Had to. A former prosecuter, a good one also..had no knowledge, absolutely none, that his appointed PA employees received orders from his appointed staff to close the GW lanes...and when he did hear about the lanes being closed, he had absolutely no resolve to question why and require evidence from his appointed PA employees unequivocally proving that the lanes were closed for a "study" .

His speak until they drop press conference, classic. Reporters are not prosecutors, they don't know the correct questions to ask. CC told TWO different stories about confronting his staff, one was the rehearsed story, and the other was "I forgot" the rehearsed story.

What is the deal with those red JCFD square signs with a number (usually the address) at the top and 2013 at the bottom posted on what appears abandoned houses?

Too moderate (not conservative enough) in most Republican opinions, especially southern and heartland party (where it counts nationally) hardliners. Popular out east, but not everywhere else.

I like the International version, especially when the price range is low, you see some creative "un-american" habitats...

But the domestic version sucks.

Also, of course it is staged. Who in their right mind would let a tv show pick 3 houses/apartments and then you are forced to choose one "so which did they choose?".

Forgot...about two weeks back, took a margh pizza to go with hot peppers from Carmine's Pizza Factory. For JC, was pleasantly surprised, especially because the crust was thin and didn't fold over and sag. The sauce and cheese are average but didn't ruin it.

Hit Goody's last night, picked up whole chicken, sweet bananas/salad for 12 dollars on the dot.

Liked it. Plenty of chicken and a lot of bananas. Accompanied by some type of garlic sauce. Good for dipping the chicken and bananas in.

Re: LOTS of new Stop Signs Downtown

Still waiting for sign southbound on Manila at 8th Street, cars fly through to catch the green light at Manila and 6th Street.

Candice, check the accident report records over the previous 5 years. There is at least 1 accident per month, maybe more and it is a heavily traveled pedestrian area as folks are walking from PATH through the mall to Hamilton Park vice versa.

Come on now!

Re: 400 Unit Development in Hamilton Park

My rec for the re-zoning Candice.

No building/tower/apartment/office structure should be taller than 5 floors measured from ground upward within historic district - Marin Blvd to Division Street from 10th Street to Newark Avenue.

Regarding the rest of downtown (except from Brunswick to Barrow from Columbus to Bright), those are already bombarded with tall skyscrapers within Paulus Hook, Newport and along Grand Street facing Liberty State Park. Too late for those communities.

And stop Tax Abatements for developers in 07302.

If the council approves otherwise, someone is getting paid/influenced etc. etc.

Preserve Hamilton Park.

Re: Club Metro v. Base Gym
Home away from home
Home away from home

I am a Club Metro member, and I am thinking of quitting..because 1. The equipment is beginning to show extreme wear and tear and they do not replace/repair the equipment. 2. You walk in at 8 AM Saturday and hear that awful music!! Why are they playing music when 90 percent of the members bring their own music.

Anyone know any good gyms under 30 dollars a month, just the basics, but where the equipment is maintained to at least an almost new standard.

Re: LOTS of new Stop Signs Downtown

How could there not be a stop sign at 8th Street and Manila? Cars speed through 8th and 7th to beat the lights at 6th and Manila!

I think they have overdone the stop sign thing. Why do you need one at Erie and Pavonia...oh that's right...guess?

I do like the stop sign at 8th and Jersey, but why do you need one at 8th (going west on 8th) and McWilliams Place?

Another bad stop sign is at Jersey (on Jersey) and First Street right before the light at Newark Avenue, that one is terrible..what..we need to see Left Bank Burger....that sign is terrible.

Re: What kind of U.S. senator will Cory Booker be?

More importantly, what kind of Governor screws the citizens of NJ out of $$$24 million dollars to hold a 'special election' for US Senate? Christie was so afraid to have Booker on the ballot (November) in fear of that more voters may vote in Democrat line rather than for him (Christie). The nerve when that money could be used for better things.

I have heard the rent is not cheap, and the russian landlord is unstable. The location is good, does it appear to be cursed, yes..there has been middle eastern, italian/seafood, on and on..and each one fails. For Ginfi, I believe it was poor execution. They did not have a vision, it seemed everything was fix as you go, decor, etc...The food was decent, nothing out of the extraordinary...hell, they did not have tortilla soup....so...what's up next LOL ! ! !
