Well that makes sense. I was just reading the article this morning in the magazine and I wanted to tear my hair out. But now everything has been put in perspective.

What about the Courtyard Marriott? Do those prices go down over the weekend as well?

The rates at the Hyatt drop precipitously on weekends, I'd assume because most of their clients are in JC/Manhattan for business and head home on weekends.

A friend of mine uses Hotwire when he visits Manhattan and he's paid as little as $149 for Fri. & Sat. night stays at the Hyatt at Exchange. The booking system at Hotwire doesn't allow him to see the exact hotel he's booking, but based on the location and star rating he knows it's either the Hyatt or (I believe) the Doubletree.

Anyway, that same $149 rate jumps to $300 Sunday through Thursday.

my wife and i stayed at the hyatt for our anniversary and loved it... our first room had a bit of a leak, but they quickly moved us to a different room. great view, and metrocard to hit the city for fun!
