both the "80" and "Montgomery Westside" go from the Grove St PATH Station to St. Peter's (Montgomery St. and Kennedy Blvd.) The Montgomery Westside has a much more direct route (is quicker) and runs about every 20 to 30 minutes. The 80 runs more frequently during rush hours and you can text with NJ Transit to determine when the next bus will come.

Adult fare is $1.60, Children age 5 thru 11 are $0.75 and 4 and under are free. Weekends and holidays, Children 5 thru 11 are free with an a adult passenger.

Lyft (and Uber) runs $6 to $10 depending on time of day.

The SPU shuttle is only available to SPU students/faculty, I believe. Plus the schedule is a mystery.

Van Reypen street is ok in the day, but not well lit and shady feeling at night. I'd walk down JFK blvd at night as the walking route simply because its better lit and has more activity/traffic.

The University offers Shuttle service to, and from the JSQ Path station. Although, you'll soon find walking from Path to St. Peters doesn't take as long as you think. If the grittiness of JFK Blvd., and Bergen is the issue, then you can take Van Reypen St. which is more of a quiet walk.

It's unfortunate Jersey City still doesn't have a reliable, more frequent form of transportation through Montgomery St.

Thanks for all the feedback so far - uber/lyft is definitely a great alternative.

Unfortunately, can't use the citibank option as I'll have two young kids, and I don't think biking up/down the hill in the dark (in the winter) is a good idea

Are there route maps for the Bergen jitney?

It runs along Kennedy on the 10 line route. It doesn't go into the JSQ bus station. It stops on Kennedy in front of Subway on the way to JSQ. Going in the Bayonne direction you can pick it up in front of Rite Aid on Kennedy. As far as scheduling goes, I find it usually leaves when it's full or just before the 10/119 shows up.

Or PATH to JSQ then bus. There are a lot more options once you get to JSQ. The 80, 10 or 119 will take you to SPU on Kennedy (you can even get one of the jitneys to Bayonne in front of Rite Aid). The Bergen or 87 will get you within a block.

Download the lyft app and use code NJCU for $5 off your next 10 rides. Better than the bus.

Great call! It would be an easy 1.4 mile point-to-point ride. There is a CitiBike station right at City Hall and another one just one block away from SPU.

This is a typical JC conundrum... our public transit options to get around town are very limited, and most are subpar. But, this is easily solved by means of Uber and/or Lyft. For a few dollars you can get anywhere, in a few minutes, and with minimal hassle. If I had to choose between a bus ride and an Uber to get from City Hall to SPU, I would take the Uber for two dollars more and potentially save myself a ton of time and the aggravation of having to time my departure around buses.

Hi Everyone - I need to go from around City Hall area to St Peter's Univ in the evenings on a weekday. Do you know what are my options?

I know there's the Montgomery West bus, which goes up/down Montgomery - which is the fastest. And then there's also the #80 bus, but takes much longer.

Are there other buses (or public transportation options)?

I'd like to avoid the PATH just because it's such a long walk to the PATH station.

TIA.
