LOL... where was the Parking Authority when they can be useful?

Bayonne man nabbed with $1,200 after Downtown Jersey City bank robbery

By Patrick Villanova | The Jersey Journal
on May 25, 2016 at 5:06 PM, updated May 25, 2016 at 5:07 PM

Jersey City police quickly apprehended a 59-year-old Bayonne man who they say robbed a Washington Street bank of $1,200 this afternoon.

Patrick O'Boyle, of Avenue E, was charged with robbery and will be remanded to the Hudson County Jail following the robbery at BCB Jersey City Bank at 211 Washington St.

Just before 2 p.m., a man with gray hair wearing a gray sweatsuit walked into the bank and told the bank teller "this is a stick up. I'm double parked. Let's make this fast. Give me hundreds, fifties and twenties." The teller handed over $1,250 and the actor fled west on Sussex street, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said.

O'Boyle did not show or possess a weapon and no one was injured in the incident, Morrill added.

A description of the robber was broadcast over the radio and responding Street Crimes Unit officers spotted a man in the area of 195 Grand St. who matched the physical description and was carrying a backpack.

Bank staff identified O'Boyle as the man who carried out the robbery, Morrill said. The arresting officers also recovered $1250 from his pants pocket.

Police also determined O'Boyle had attempted to change his appearance prior to being apprehended, authorities said. East District detectives recovered the gray sweat pants inside the bag the actor was carrying and a Major Case detective found the gray sweat suit top inside the bathroom of the Liberty Prime restaurant at 111 Montgomery St.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation will also be investigating the case.

The same bank was reportedly robbed in November 2011.
