I saw the kitty at about 9:30-10. I called animal control also. They said they had already received a call. The poor boy was dead - flies were buzzing and blood was dribbling from his mouth :(. I wonder if it was poisoned as there were no visible signs of trauma.

Calling animal control was the best thing to do. They will have picked him up and gotten him to a vet, where he'd be checked for a micro chip and evaluated for treatment.

You have a kind heart. Hopefully someone has taken care of the kitty.

I don't know if anyone else saw this but there was a kitty cat lying limp, I think he was dead or very very sick, on grove street this morning outside a house between 1st and 2nd street. I tried to see if he was okay but he was unresponsive, so I called the animal control of jersey city. not sure what else I was supposed to do, but just wondering if anyone else has seen him or if someone came around to claim him or maybe if the humane society was able to take care of him? anyone know anything, I'm still worried about the poor guy.
