That horse might have just a little life left in it...

The city really needs to build curb extensions (also referred to as bulb outs) around the street corners.

1. Protects corners from encroaching parked cars.
2. Tricks drivers into slowing down because in the mind the road is becoming more narrow.
3. Reduces the distance pedestrians are required to transverse when crossing the street.

But of course Jersey City's leadership has actually taken the few in the downtown away like those that had been on Columbus.

At this point, the best way to improve pedestrian safety is a wholesale clearing of city's engineering department. And obviously, executive elected official.

If cars would just stop at red lights, it would be a good start.

I'd be happy to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks if I could see them. But the Parking Authority doesn't seem to enforce the rule against parking too close to an intersection, so I can't really see a pedestrian who hasn't already started to cross. I try in good faith not to hit one. So far, so good.

Can we also get a ring of lights around stop signs like they have in parts of Union City?

There are big yellow pedestrian signs on Jersey Avenue from Columbus to at least Montgomery.

Cars are still being jerks but it's good to know that our city government is hearing us speak up about what we need in the community!

Thanks!

I have a feeling, judging by the way many of these city signs are "secured" in the sidewalks, there will be many a liberated stop signs available to put up there all too soon.

Done

Also they should put those signs up that state you must stop if a pedestrian is in the cross walk. They are on Monmouth at every intersection. Why not Jersey? It's a state law.

Please help pedestrians by sending a request for a STOP sign at the corner of Wayne St and Jersey Ave.

The intersection is quite horrible. When you drive on Wayne St and get to the intersection, you can't see if there are cars coming! And the drivers on Jersey Ave don't yield / stop for pedestrians. It's horrible. Help your neighbors, visit the JC Government website and "Request a traffic sign" at that corner.

Here's the link: http://mygovhelp.com/jerseycitynj/_cs ... ZRBBWYKEMWUVKQPAC&cat=0&=

Thanks!
