Its not the housing projects that are the problem, it is the people who live in the housing projects. Housing projects were never considered to be a permanent solution to housing. Housing projects were put in place because of public health and safety concerns regarding overcrowded tenements and "tent cities," i.e. loss of life in fires, spread of disease, etc...
Prior to the 1960's most housing projects were filled by middle and working class immigrants who then moved on to greener pastures after making enough money to leave. Many, if not most, of the current inhabitants of the nation's "projects" continue to live there generation after generation. The fact that there is a sizeable portion of the population enagaging in criminal activity and subsisting via government aidl makes living conditions for their neighbors intolerable. The idea of "projects" was a good one until it was taken advantage of by the lazy and entitled. The same thing is going to happen in the mixed-income complexes that are currently being touted as the new social improvement program. People need to learn to help themselves.

"who the f--- is y'all?"
Unreported here is the real tragedy - the murder of the English language.

Under the Healy Administration the criminals have become comfortable in Jersey City. Sadly true! Healy was just quoted when the federal grant of $9.7M to rehab the A. Harry Moore Housing came through ----- something to the effect of "having another housing project that we can be proud of." Yes indeed --- we should all be proud of our housing projects! Go crawl back into your bottle, Mr. Mayor. Then-Mayor Wilson Goode of Philadelphia had the right idea vis-a-vis the MOVE projects in West Philly back in '85. One well-landed incendiary device solves a great deal of problems in one fell swoop.

Another day, more shootings, it seems almost everyday there are shootings in Jersey City!
When is the Healy Administration going to step up and address the crime issue with an actual plan to fight crime and drive the thugs, gangs, drug dealer and violent criminals out of Jersey City. Under the Healy Administration the criminals have become comfortable in Jersey City.

Two men, two women shot in Jersey City housing complex courtyard
By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal June 04, 2010, 12:18PM Google Maps Four people were shot in the courtyard of a Jersey City housing complex early this morning, Jersey City police said. The four victims, one man and two women from Jersey City and a man from Irvington, told police they were hanging out in a courtyard at Marion Gardens at 2:30 a.m. when a man came out of one of the buildings, said "who the f--- is y'all?" and then fired six shots. The 29-year-old Irvington man was struck in the arm and leg, a 23-year-old Dales Avenue woman was grazed in her right leg and a 24-year-old Dales Avenue woman was shot in her right hand, police reports said. The two woman told police that another man, 38, also of Dales Avenue, was shot in the stomach, reports said. The injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said. The shooter, who the victims told police they knew by name, returned to the building after the shootings and came back with a bigger gun, police reports said. At that point the victims fled, with the shooter following them and waving the gun before disappearing, according to the reports. All four victims were treated at area hospitals. Police are investigating.
