I smelled it when I woke up (we also had our windows open). We are on Varick and Bright and it was a strong smell.

I also felt the overwhelming smell at my home on 5th Street (near Coles) early this morning, it woke me up... also wondering where it as coming from and hoping it was not some sort of bioterrorist attack

Yes I smelled it. I thought it was from the construction site on Wayne. They've been paving some of the streets in the middle of the night. A few weeks ago when they were paving Jersey Ave I had to close my windows at night due to the icky smell.

We had our windows open and were woken up at around 3 am from an overwhelming smell something like tar/burned rubber/pollution. Walked around outside but could not figure out where it was coming from. Did not go away for several hours and still smelled it a little this morning. This was around the downtown/Grove St area-- did anyone else smell it?
