+1 on Budget... My fiance and I used them last week - separate trips and we had no issues. Cars were okay, she had an SUV and I had a town car, service was good though.

Thanks for the recommendation. I used them and found Budget to be affordable ($25 is pretty good to Newark), polite, reliable, and professional.

What do you pay Downtown for JC to EWR? I was going to EWR from downtown last month and used them. When I got to EWR they wanted $50 for what's normally a $35/$30 cab ride.

Same deal coming back from EWR to JC. The Newark taxis will charge close to $50 to Jersey City. Any JC service will charge the same $25.

Newport Limo is the absolute worst, DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING RIPPED OFF!!! Local cab companies like Ace taxi all charge $25!

Whatever you do, do NOT use Newport Limo - they will charge you at least $50 to Newark; and if you get an SUV, they will charge you at least $100.00 - but of course they don't tell you this beforehand.

Got charged $35 + tip for a cab to Newark on a weekend afternoon. There are a few local car services that advertise in the local mail coupon packs that offer $25/$30 rides to Newark.

path to hoboken ($1.75) + cab anywhere in hoboken city limits ($5) = $6.75.. do that next time instead of cab from jc to hob. as was said earlier already, cabs can charge whatever they want once it's outside the city limits. as with anything that has its price dictated by the market (in this case the cab-ride market, so to speak), it's not a ripoff if people are paying for it

I do find the Grove St. Path Taxis to be a complete rip-off. I've had friend's complain that the cabs still carry more than one passenger in the cab going to different destinations that don't know each other. I thought this was illegal and that the city had clamped down on this but a friend of mine had this happen to them just a couple of weeks ago...

it's becuase their exceeding their city limits. they charge more when they do this; just like any other cab co.

there's no difference when it comes to grove st. cab, indian way cab, or nyc cab.

I used a cab from Hoboken Path to York st. They charged $20.

I knew it was a rip off but I was drunk as skunk, so I sucked up.

So, what's the deal with the ridiculous rates for the taxi cabs that line up at Grove? It costs $13 to go to lower Hoboken (less than a mile away). Meanwhile, at the Hoboken Path, a cab will take you anywhere in Hoboken (further than from Grove to Hoboken), for only $5.

The Grove taxi cabs are such a ripoff! How do they justify $13 + tip for a 3 minute ride?
