It's only news if it makes the papers. Nontroversy, controversy, shmontroversy, you gotta love it. When you read a line that says something is "regarded as an international model in stakeholder consensus negotiations and sustainable development" you become aware this is psychobabble spouted by those who think they know things we don't because something really, really important is on the verge of happening but don't ask what it is because what it is, it ain't. Get it?

People need to get over this whole "LSC is in Jersey City" crap. We went through it with "Newport City" in the 80's and it was stupid then. Besides, once their ineptitude and mismanagement drives them out of business, will we even want to acknowledge their presence here? Another nontroversy.

Quite right and all that but it is an established fact that LSC has distanced itself from JC from the start. They recently ate humble pie in asking JC for some "green" which they got in the form of a loan and agreeing to mention JC in their pronouncements.

I really don't know what a sustainable city is. I could guess but I'd probably be wrong and I am too lazy to google it.
And WTF does this mean?

Mayor Healy Hosts Second Sustainable Cities Conference

Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and members of the Municipal Council will host Jersey City?s Second Sustainable Cities Conference, from 8:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 9th , 2009, at the Liberty Science Center, Liberty State Park, 222 Jersey City Blvd.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., founder and President of the Waterkeeper Alliance, will deliver the Keynote Address. Widely known for his environmental work, Mr. Kennedy also serves as the Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and as a Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law?s Environmental Litigation Clinic. Mr. Kennedy?s New York City Watershed Agreement is regarded as an international model in stakeholder consensus negotiations and sustainable development.

The Conference will also feature a panel of regional experts including Senior Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee U.S. Representative Frank Pallone, Jr., Regional Plan Association Executive Director Tom Wright, New Jersey Sustainable State Institute Director Randall Solomon, and U.S. Green Building Council of New Jersey Executive Director Florence Block.


This event is free and open to the public. Registration for the Sustainable Cities Conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. Space for the Conference is limited and those wishing to attend are encouraged to please R.S.V.P. with Nancy McCarthy at GOGREEN@JCNJ.ORG or by calling 201-547-4943 no later than March 6, 2009. Refreshments will be served before and after the Conference
