I also don't know about any red tape involved. As far as I know, you just send an email to OCA notifying them of the change? Is it more involved than that?

I dunno. All the lawyers I know do notify OCA as required. Is that optional?

That's cute. I'd look up the same thing re: Solomon, but he doesn't have a real job to look up other than being a part-time politics 101 professor. Quote:

Oh for cripes sake, I've been an admitted attorney for over 30 years. If you think people (1) notify the bar when they've changed employment or (2) the bar has the manpower to respond immediately when they actually receive notification, I have a bridge to sell you. From personal experience, I can tell you I have updated my employment whenever I have to qualify for continuing education which is every OTHER year.
You post this crap as if (1) you know what you're talking about, which you don't and (2) you've never yourselves dealt with bureaucracy. This is malicious and also ignorant. For the record, I don't live in Ward E.

Before: Peters, P.J., Lahtinen, Stein and McCarthy, JJ.
__________ Monica A. Duffy, Committee on Professional Standards, Albany, for petitioner. __________ Per Curiam. Petitioner moves to suspend respondent attorneys, all of whom were admitted to practice in this Department, on the ground that they have failed to file a registration statement in accordance with Judiciary Law ? 468-a and the Rules of the Chief Administrator of the Courts (22 NYCRR) part 118. The moving papers indicate that despite written notices sent to them by the Office of Court Administration at their last known address, respondents have failed to register. Judiciary Law ? 468-a (5) provides that noncompliance with the statute and rules regarding attorney registration "shall constitute conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice and shall be referred to the appropriate appellate division . . . for disciplinary action." This Court has previously held that failure to comply with the registration requirements is professional misconduct warranting discipline (see e.g. Matter of Arms, 251 AD2d 743 [1998]; Matter of Ryan, 238 AD2d 713 [1997]; Matter of Farley, 205 AD2d 874 [1994]). In view of respondents' continued failure to comply with the attorney registration requirements of the Judiciary Law and the Rules of the Chief Administrator of the Courts, petitioner's motion is granted and the respondents listed on the schedule attached hereto are suspended, effective 30 days from the date of this order, until further order of this Court (see Matter of Attorneys in Violation of Judiciary Law ? 468-a, 65 AD3d 1447 [2009]).

Why don't you try calling the day? And if there's any doubt, her attorney registration still lists Dixon as her employer. All changes in employment must be reported to the Office of Court Administration within 30 days pursuant to OCA 118.1(f): "In the event of a change in the name of attorney, office addresses, home address, business telephone number, or e-mail address reported pursuant to subdivision (e) of this section, the attorney shall file an amended statement within 30 days of such change."
Why is her employer still listed as Dixon? Where do you think she works?

I literally just tried calling Dixon, and using the directory to spell her name. You're an idiot and I'm even bigger idiot for thinking a troll might've alluded to something factual. But since we're on the topic of sincerity and motive - James Solomon is using Ward E council to run for Mayor and patently misleading the public with his "holier than thou" perception.
SOLOMON'S ELEC report is riddled with contributions from liberal think tanks, big money interests from outside of NJ and wait for it.....REAL ESTATE MONEY! What do you know, Solomon has taken contributions from the RE industry in NYC. So please, tell me how this fuckin' phony is the 2nd coming of Christ?

I don't think the paid endorsement is a big deal, but the way it was presented came across as patently pretextual, i.e., I took your money without bias but now that I've met you I think you are the best thing since sliced bread. Read the "endorsement" interview -- it rings hollow.
She is also a puppet for Dixon. For f***'s sake, if you call Dixon you'll be routed to her voicemail. No question that relationship perdures. Is that not more than enough to call into doubt her sincerity, motives, and qualifications for office, notwithstanding her press clippings?

You are correct on two points... Yes, she can endorse whoever she likes. And yes, it is up to her audience or readership to determine if the endorsement is worthwhile. I am neither and I have determined that her endorsement isn't worth a wooden nickel to me. I know that puts me in the minority because there are plenty of people that view her content. Good for her.

I still don't get why people think that Symes paying for an article on ChicPeaJC is a big deal. ChicPeaJC is a weblog, not the Star-Ledger. Shouldn't ChicPeaJC be able to accept politicians' money? There's lots of ads here on JCList. I don't expect lofty editorial standards from ChicPeaJC. No matter what you think of the content there, it obviously has a following and people like the voices there. Shouldn't Lynn have the same right to endorse whoever she chooses that everyone else in Jersey City has?
It seems plausible that maybe web services were paid for. And in the middle of that an editor of a site could say "I really like this candidate. I want to endorse her." Isn't it up to the audience or readership to determine if the endorsement is worthwhile? To attempt to belittle Symes or ChicPeaJC for this incident seems to me to be snobbery. Any downtown candidate would want Lynn's support or an article on ChicPeaJC endorsing them. The clutching of pearls here is really a bit much.

I've asked this before and I will ask again. Please someone post the list of acceptable jobs one can have before or while running for City Council.

I am also not Dan Levin nor an anonymous troll, and I think it is a conflict of interest for someone to work as general council for Dixon Leasing and then run for council.
General council is a position reporting to the board of the company, intimately involved in strategy, it is not the same as if a random low level employee decided to run. Robin.

I understand why Dan Levin is working hard against Symes. It must be like deja vu all over again for Dan and his anonymous troll friends.
Here is a video of Dan Levin selling his soul to Mayor Healy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEjetFzyYgo
