So Holder is the Chicago Hitman heading out the door... this story was out there months before Menendez's most recent election and now the DOJ just gets around to investigating??? Looks like it is the start of a good old style Soviet Kremlin purge. I wonder if Hillary is on the list?

Menendez missed going to jail in the 1980s, the feds were after Mayor Musto of Union City, Bob was a witnessed for the feds. The Italians were upset that this Cuban who Musto gave a chance turned against him. By that time Union City was more Cuban than Italian.

Investigate him. Jail him. Good riddance.

You remember, the guy who had all the Medicare/Medicaid billing issues-and whose private plane rides Menendez didn't repay until years late when caught.

More so with the current US DOJ AG... I think the arrogance of power a and longevity in office make all politicians ethical challenged... I am a firm believer with term limits.

Missing the obvious in this story... the DOJ does not investigate democrats... this is payback to Menendez for him sponsoring the Iran Sanctions Bill that might prevent Obama from letting Iran get the bomb and it is also sending a not so subtle message to any senator that supports the bill. Schumer was spared because he does not have the public baggage and he is a WH favorite, but he is on the list if the senate does not come around.

It's been over a year since much news about the last investigation-while the child sex allegations may have been fishing, the time he spent lobbying for the Florida/Dominican doctor (the one who evaded $8 million in taxes) is still under a cloud. (You remember, the guy who sends his private plane to ferry Menendez around.) Things sure don't seem to speed too fast when it's a Democratic NJ Senator under investigation it seems. And why Charlie Rangel is still in office is a disgrace.

But we need to as why a NJ Senator is spending any time for two fugitives from another country who aren't even NJ residents. Isn't any time spent doing that taking away from the people who he represents?

Well at least he isn't f*cking kids this time.

The last one was a lying smear campaign but if he did make those calls on behalf of people who gave him money then he should be investigated and prosicuted or at least booted out of the Senate.

U.S. Sen. Menendez pushes back on report of new federal investigation

JERSEY CITY ? U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez today strongly challenged allegations that he did special favors for a pair of Ecuadorian bankers who are fugitives from justice in their home country.

?A year after a false smear campaign was launched against me, once again we see anonymous sources ? I wish we had these source quoted,? Menendez (D-N.J.) said at after a campaign event for U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8th Dist.) ?I?d like them to come forth.?

Citing unnamed Justice Department officials, WNBC-TV reported Thursday night that Menendez is under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice for making calls to the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security to advocate William and Roberto Isaias, who are fugitives from justice in their native Ecuador and seek permanent residency in the United States.

Although the brothers are not legally allowed to donate to politicians, WNBC reported that their relatives gave $10,000 to Menendez?s 2012 re-election campaign and $100,000 to Democrats around the same time.

?My office works with literally hundreds of individuals and families working from New Jersey and across the country who are seeking help from the immigration process,? Menendez said. ?The Isaias family made just a request. We addressed this request in an identical process that was no different than any others.?

Menendez said he had not heard anything from federal authorities and that the brothers have been in the United States since 2001, and that his office had nothing to do their status in this country. He said the Bush and Obama administrations have both refused Ecuador?s request to extradite them. And he said the current government in Ecuador is ?corrupt.?

Menendez ? who became chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations last year ? said his office would ?never ? never - act on a contribution as a cause for action.?

?Now if people support my views, if they support my advocacy, they obviously may feel the desire to contribute. People generally contribute to people who share their views,? Menendez said.

Menendez already reportedly faces an investigation over whether he used his position to aide the business dealings of Florida eye doctor Salomon Melgen.
