If you expand your geographic horizons you might find something to your liking right here in J.C. Renato's in the Heights and there is a new Mexican restaurant on Rt. 440 on the west side of town.

You can hear your companions, the staff is friendly, and their drinks are surprisingly well-crafted. Taqueria will always be our go-to Mexican. The little outpost on Grove/Bay is always crowded, with good reason. But if you can belly up to the 5-seat bar, you'll be glad you did. And we've had a couple of great breakfasts at that Mexican place on the corner of Barrow and Bright.

City Diner, really?
 The food is bland (if not gross) and some of the staff are an olive short of a pizza.Then again, not a fan of several of the JC establishments listed here. Orale was overpriced, and I cannot abide places that make it so loud you cannot hear who you are dining with (Porta, South House - though I must say I enjoyed the food at SH) Personally, I'm a fan of Amelia's, White Star, Satis, Light Horse Tavern. Mantra for Indian, Taste of North China for Chinese. Yet to find a Mexican joint that I like. Three Coffee Beans has come closest (delivery), but that's hit and miss.
