They run off line voltage so just bypass the ballast.

No need to replace the fixture. T-12 led bulbs are readily available. Try 1000bulbs.com or one of the many online led bulb retailers.

A company called Tri-state LED was marketing linear LED replacements for T-12 lights. Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC replaced all their T-8 bulbs with the LEDs (they even removed the ballasts since the LEDs also run on line voltage). Lighting replacement companies really don't do the bulb replacements now since LED fixture prices are a fraction of what they were five years ago. I would look at replacing the entire fixture with an LED unit (most are also dimmable). That is what I am doing with some of my old 15+ year old T-12 kitchen lights in my apartments.

Home away from home

Happy New Year to all!
It so happens that several of my light fixtures/bulbs died on me. I was able to put in LED bulbs for most of them with no problem. There is one light fixture on my ceiling that is a bit tricky. This is it: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-4- ... -10-Pack-422675/203466573. Id like to replace it with something more energy efficient. Doe anyone have any recommendations? It is pretty high on the ceiling....i just want to be able to put it in as i would with the one i have now. I am complete doofus when it comes to home maintenance. Thanks ALL!

Home maintenance is good thing to do using help of contractors. I personally did not try, but my neighbour had experienced an amazing service from local hvac professional. By seeing their work I would really like to try it at my home too. For more ideas you can have a word with them.

Any recommendations regarding contractors who can come in and clean out the ceiling registers/grilles, replace filters etc on Mechanical units ?
