Not sure about a shuttle between the two airports, if that is an option I would 100% do that. If you need to transfer, your airline should provide some sort of service.

If not, here is what I would do:

AirTrain->E->WTC Path to Newark->Uber ($10 ride) $20.50
OR
AirTrain->LIRR->Penn->AirTrain $26

Airtrain $5
LIRR $8
NJT $13 (includes EWR AirTrain)

I hate transfers and try to avoid the AirTrain at EWR at all cost so I would recommend #1.

I hate all the transfers too, but there is a significant time disadvantage by taking the E to WTC instead of the LIRR to NY Penn.

Google puts the LIRR route at 90 minutes (tad optimistic in my opinion).

Taking the E to WTC, then getting to Newark Penn would be at least 100 minutes than still have another 15 minute or so taxi/uber ride on top of that.

You might be surprised as to how quick you can complete this trip. Honestly, you might even be able to complete it in 75 minutes, if the various transfers line up optimally.

On more than one occasion, I have done the complete door to door trip from my place in DTJC to JFK in 90 minutes, and that includes a 5-minute walk to Grove, and the ~10 minute transfer from the 33rd St station to Penn Station.

Pro tip: if you are doing this trip on a weekend day, make sure you buy the reduced rate CityTicket ($4.25, instead of the much higher regular fare) and save yourself some money.

Agreed - after nightmarish cab rides to JFK I'd pretty much given up on using it. I tried the train, though, and it wasn't so bad at all.

To limit amount of transfers, take a bus/shuttle from Port Authority bus terminal to EWR. Yesterday coming from JFK I took the Airtrain and E to 42nd Street/PA and it was much quicker than I thought!

Just out of curiosity - why are you transferring from JFK to EWR? is it because a flight segment is much cheaper going that route?

Yup. Ok, fastest for under $30 bucks. It's the trains. What I suspected, but thought I may have missed something.

Looking at that earlier. There is a transfer at the PABT and it's a 3+ HOUR trip!

Looks like AirTrain > LIRR > NJ Transit > AirTrain is best bet. Sigh.

Take the heli-shuttle. It's only $1,750 for 2 people.

If time is of the essence, then the trains will be your best bet:

AirTrain > LIRR > NJT > Airtrain

That trip will take anywhere from 75 to 90 minutes, airport to airport, including transfers, walking, and such.

As for shuttles, I am not aware of any direct service, but I do recall something advertised many years ago. Regardless, it would likely cost more, and take longer. A ride with a friend or relative could possibly be shorter if it is during non rush hour times (say, late at night, or really early in the morning) otherwise it would likely take as long or longer, if the traffic is bad.

Of course, Nori is right about the hassle of transfers, particularly if you are loaded with luggage. Otherwise, it is a simple effort to do the train shuffle.

There is AirTrain to the E or LIRR to NJ Transit to the Newark Airtrain

What about shuttles between the two airports? Anyone know.
