Here's what may replace the V-22s. Double the speed and 1/3 the price, plus a whole lot simpler mechanically:

Those V-22's are always nice to see when they flew into Pier 6.

Yes! I didn't know that's what you called them (V-22s). They fly really low, hug the Jersey side of the river, and make a low growl that shakes our windows. I've seen them traveling in pairs, sometimes more.

I've been seeing it and several Osprey V-22s every few days for weeks now. I have a nice high window looking over the Hudson.

Many military and historic restored aircraft like to get photographed with the Statue of Liberty in the background and this is a much more likely explanation of why you see military aircraft in our skies. Its not anything sinister. If you were in the military and you had a choice of where to fly around, wouldn't you want to fly over NYC?

Basically an airplane with a long range radar to detect missiles among other things!

Known as AWAC .... probably in the air because of the location of the new President. No-Fly Zones.
Maybe this news development will cancel all the helicopter flights up the Hudson?

That's a Grumman E-2C Hawkeye. It's an airborne early-warning aircraft with a ton of communications gear aboard. It's small enough to fly from an aircraft carrier-

I saw a plane like this coming up the Hudson this afternoon. Is this a spy plane?
