It's not about one thing killing a tree. It's about multiple stressors combining to weaken and kill over time.
Take a look at the dead and dying trees all around you. This is a symptom of global warming.

The data is posted online by NYSERDA Heating Degree Days (HDD) = The higher the number, the colder the year (the more you had to run your heat) Cooling Degree Days (CDD) = The lower the number, the cooler the summer (you run your A/C less) I applied linear trend lines to both data sets. The trends is slightly cooler winters and a very slight cooling trend during the summer.

This is not some phenomenon. We have had no rain until this week.

Overall, this summer has been rather dry in terms of rain. That would affect the trees.

The article linked was about a Anthracnose type fungi attacking the trees (is isn't fatal to a healthy tree). I am familiar with it. My tomatoes get attacked by it in late summer / early fall when the morning become cooler and damp. The fungi doesn't do much when it is hot and dry.

Oh good grief...
Anthracnose (fungus) infections on trees thrive during cool weather. Warm weather retards the growth of the fungus. Is there anything left in the world not blamed on A comprehensive list of things caused by global warming

See all those dead leaves on the ground? That's not supposed to happen at this time of year. There's a number of things killing our trees, but they're all exacerbated by global warming.
