Big fan of Ahri's bulgogi as well. Had some of their ktacos recently, good stuff.

Wanted to tell OP, went to Dolma a couple of days ago for brunch. Really top notch food, although portions a tiny little bit on the smaller side; I've been craving mediterranean for a while and Dolma hit the spot. Was too cold for that outdoor seating triangle but it'll be poppin' come summer. Nice ambience, but dunno about at dinner. Should be, looks like they did a good job with the interior.

Haha, don't drag my name into this any more than it has to. -) My bike gets me anywhere in JC and beyond. Not to mention my notorious restaurant existed a few blocks from the park.

Ha! Well, just looking out for your interests; I thought this upcoming dinner was a date. If it was, I hope it went well. Rumi's food is very good, and from your other post it seems like you agree.

And, yes, a bike in JC can be a great mode of transportation. Perhaps the best at times.

That was pretty funny.

Ahri's is indeed very good. I have had a few things there and the spiciness level can be pretty high (a plus on my book, but a warning for those whose stomach may not be able to handle that) and the entire crew was friendly. The food comes out piping hot, which is another plus on my book.

The only knock against it is that for someone like anonymess, its location is not convenient if you are using public transportation.

For a similar menu to Rumi, check out Gypsy Grill:

(That reminds me - I've got to try their Lamb Shank Mozza Thursday Special today).

M&P's Kale salad is a very healthful choice. The lobster salad is as well.

Another vote for Rumi! Another plus: it is BYOB. The ambiance is a bit drab, but the food is great.

Have you tried Turkish food? I like the grilled bronzini or salmon. It comes with a salad.

Once again, I am imposing on you for dinner suggestions. I'm looking for a simple restaurant with at least some healthy options. Something a bit above a diner if you will. I was thinking Marco & Pepe or Madame Claude or something along those lines, though I don't think either has any or many healthy options. Downtown or Bergen-Lafayette are preferable. Thanks.

That's almost every restaurant in downtown JC, except for fast-food, pizza, Talde and the 2 burger places. They're all pretty much "simple" restaurants with a few healthy options.

One of my favorite spots is Sawadee on Newark. They have great food and some healthy options. Teppan Bar and Grill on Warren behind 50 Columbus is also one of my go too spots.
