Did Dixon manage to rent the one on Hamilton Place for $10,000?

ran into a friend last night that was invited to a private party/open house and apparently it's as amazing as the photos look. now just curious who is going to pay that much in rent?

Don't know if it was that property or an adjacent one - but went to a July 4th party in '99 on Ogden. Absolutely stunning view.

Maybe they are trying to attract ex-Italians and have sentimentally priced the rent in lire?

A lot of the furniture is from Knoll and Herman Miller. If you're serious, you might start at the DWR outlet in Seacaucus. FYI, Knoll is having a sale on home office furniture - 15% off and free delivery. Some of the pieces are sold by MOMA (Eames Lounge Chair and otto, for example) and are sometimes offered at 20% off to members.

Well the Euro is in question lately, but wait till the Italians realize that Lire really means liar. Hopefully they won't notice and stay.

I went by this property the other day and it has permits in the windows. When you look up, you can see that some structure has been put on the roof.

All I can say is that the property DOES exist and that it appears to be a work in progress.

try design within reach and Natuzzi

A lot of those pieces were definitely sourced from DWR. I have always found the name to be a bit of a misnomer, as most people that are not familiar with the store seem to walk in expecting "good prices" and are immediately shocked by the sticker prices on everything. That Eames chair and ottoman (that seems to have become the new status piece you find on all staged apartments for filmings, photo shoots, etc) will set you back 5K. A nice desk from them will set you back two or three grand. Cool store, and very neat designs that incorporate retro looks. Just make sure you have some serious bank when you walk into the store.

Natuzzi is also very good, and expensive. After all, you are looking at Italian leather furniture. Try BoConcept, as well. Also expensive, but they have some cool, retro designs, that are also modern.

The other great things sold at DWR are recliners that don't look like you inherited them from your grandmama. I have the Flight lounge chair which I picked up for under 2K during a warehouse sale. The other is called the Thayer Coggin Recliner. Get on their mailing list. Once I went the day before and they gave me a 20% discount instead of the 25% I would have gotten during the sale. Well worth it; sales are incredibly crowded.

Thanks for that tip, Sommerman! I will be sure to do that.

If the furnishings are included it might be worth it.

That looks pretty cool, actually. Gotta admit those views are nice. I've never understood renting for that amount of money, but happens more often than we realize. 10k/mo rentals are pretty common. So what's 10 more... :)
